Rated 1 out of 5Â by Bonnie Didn't last a year
Worked hard cleaning and prepping our deck last year and wanted a good stain for it to keep it in good condition. Used this stain and in less than a year it started peeling up. WASTED money and time.

Approximately ten years ago I gambled and used this product. It was a wise decision. I used barn red and tugboat brown. Back then the life expectancy was not as good as today's formula, and I'm due to re-stain. The barn red has a extremely mild fading, but still looks Great. The tugboat looks the same as the day I put it on! Excellent. Absolutely no issues with this product. Goes on super easy, and easy to clean up. My Wife even volunteered to stain since it was so easy! Has protected my wood extremely well over the years, and that IS why we are doing this.
Although it doesn't look it I'm re-staining again, and can see getting the maximum years of protection using Behr stain.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Vols Composite Deck
I had installed Trex deck about 4 years ago, the deck was extremely faded, and I was really upset with the money I had invested in this deck and the result I was at 4 years later. I tried pressure washing, cleaning, etc.. but never got any better. Found this product at Home Depot and thought I would give it a try. I was about to rip the whole thing out and build a new one. I brushed the stain on and the deck looks brand new! The color is exactly the original color, went on easy, and great results. I hope it last for several years, that will be the icing on top if it does. Either way - there is a solution for faded/worn out composite decks!

Rated 5 out of 5 Longest lasting stain available.
We use about 100 gallons of this per month and have found it is the longest lasting, most hail-resistent, waterproof stain available, tho it should retail for at least 10%-15% less when bought in 5-gallon buckets!
I question whether it will really last 25 years on a fence, but if it only lasts 20 I will be satisfied for spending the extra money. The labor is the same no matter what stain you use so why do the job 4x over 20 years?

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Libbs Read the Fine Print
I too only applied this product last spring and a lot of the stain is peeling off. I was all set to write a nasty letter to Behr to tell them what a lousy product this was ans then I read the fine print. It says that a primer must be used first if you are applying it to certain types of wood, like cedar. Which of course my deck is. So now after power washing and scrapping as much of the old stuff as possible. I applied the primer that was recommended on the can, then the stain. So I will see what next spring brings.
Lesson learned.. read the fine print. As for the reviews, I think all the bad reviews were also a result of not properly priming and sealing the certain wood surfaces first
