We bought four 5 gallon buckets which SHOULD have done our dock, boardwalk, front and back porches. It did 2 coats for the dock and part of the boardwalk, leaving about 1/3 of the boardwalk with just one coat, and that was only because we thinned it to make it stretch. Still have to buy 2 more 5 gallong buckets (estimating from how much original purchase actually covered compared to what it said it would cover) in order to finish the job.
This did a great job of filling in the cracks and evening out the finish, again. The difference between first and second coat was rather dramatic, too. The appearance has been improved significantly and is, once again, a nice looking dock. Unthinned, it did exactly as it was supposed to. Thinned, even just slightly, made a big difference in the ability to fill in cracks. So I wouldn't recommend it if you have significant weathering. For relatively smooth surfaces, it would be just fine (to thin).
Our dock was somewhat neglected and had become rather severely weather worn. I give this partial credit for the lack of distance covered, which is not Behr's fault. But remember, only PARTIAL credit. Even with the severity of weathering, the product should have gone a lot further.
Additionally, being that it's purpose is to refinish outdoor decks you wouldn't expect it to be as slick as it is when damp. Living in Florida, we have high humidity, daily rain showers during rainy season and it is a dock on a lake. VERY impractical characteristic. When dry, it has a "sticky" feel to it. Hoping that cures after while, but after 2 weeks in hot Florida sun, it hasn't changed much.
Further, we chose the lightest shade of gray (which almost looks white), in order to reflect the sun's heat versus a darker color. (Previously we had a brown color which you would expect to be hotter.) The DeckOver now makes the dock hotter than hades so bare feet are definitely out. Another disappointing aspect considering the application for which it's supposed to be for - outdoor living.
Overall, I would recommend it, but Behr still has some work to do to overcome these rather significant drawbacks. Still, we're hoping it gives us another 4-5 years of life to the dock.
I am tagging this review with "Easy to Apply" in that it wasn't complicated. It WAS very hard work as you have to work it into the cracks. Also, would have given it the "Good Protection" tag except that remains to be seen. First impression is that it will, but we'll see.

Just make sure the paint is the color you want before you leave the store. We ordered cape cod gray. Got home and it was pretty dark. So we used it anyway. Needed one more gallon and it was 5 or so shades lighter. The original color that we wanted. Now we are going to have to start over again with one color or another. This is supposed to be computer generated as far as the color but it goofed!

10x20 ft deck floor. 5 gallons didn't quite allow for 2 coats. Ordered another 5 gallons as I believe I will need at least a 3rd coat for the desired finish. To be continued.

Absolutely love this paint for the porch. It covered up imperfections on the porch. A pup had chewed a few places and you can't tell where the puppy chewed.

Seems to be a good deck protector, did not seal all cracks as stated, a lot of effort to apply, time will tell....

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by catm Do not put this stuff on your deck!
I bought this product to make a newer addition match the older part of my deck. It was time consuming and difficult to apply. We used 2 coats as recommended. It covered well and did mask the difference in age of the 2 sections.
My first complaint was that it made the surface of the deck (which surrounds a pool) incredibly hot and impossible to walk on without shoes.
Now after only 2 years the finish is cracking and peeling. It looks terrible. My once lovely deck is an eyesore! A waste of time and money that destroyed my deck, which was a considerable investment and can not be presently replaced.

We applied Deckover to our large deck and our garden boxes during late summer/early fall. By winter, we could already see some bubbling and the paint coming off. By the following summer, the deck looked pretty bad, with patches of paint missing. Two summers later, almost all the paint has bubbled off. We will have to scrape off the paint and start all over. The picture is without any scraping...So much for the guarantee!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Marsh50 Chipping and peeling off like crazy. Do not buy!!
Like the reviews that are good for this product, it looked great when initially applied. I did 2 coats and it looked amazing. Chipping and peeling is occurring all over my deck now (less than 2 years after applying). It looks terrible. What is still on there is impossible to clean. Any dirt that ends up on it is impossible to get off. What a waste of time and money. Stay away!!!
