does this come in different shades of white

Asked by: glenn
Ceiling white is ceiling white. It dries to a matte/flat finish. If you are looking for an "off" white, you may want to choose one of their off white colors, and purchasing it in a flat (no sheen) finish.

What color is flat ?

I want to paint my kitchen and bathroom an off white color.

Flat is a term, which means solid ink coverage, the color can be anything dark, neutral, Blue etc. It is just another word for solid

No matter the nap or roller material, this stuff goes on thick and wets out like 80 grit sandpaper. I'm guessing this is what they mean by "hides flaws"... So if you've got an old house with some less than stellar ceiling surfaces, this is the product for you... If your ceilings are in good shape and you just want a color change, save yourself the headache and just go with some premium ultra. I've done half the room and I'm cutting my losses. I'm disappointed quite frankly.

The surface being painted over is newly installed drywall that was taped and floated, one coat of primer, and then spray-textured to a knockdown finish. I lightly sanded and brushed the knockdown to remove all the crumbly stuff, then I painted the ceiling with this paint. It covered it pretty well with just one coat, but in bright light I could distinguish overlaps at the edges. I was fully expecting this as hardly any paint will do one-coat coverage anymore. The second coat went on way smoother than the first one and the result was excellent. I have many more ceilings to paint and if they are going to be white, I will be using this paint.

I am painting a ceiling that has an even, smooth coat of a white high-quality primer on it. Even with that base, this paint is going to require at least two coats. The cut-in places (done with a brush) to allow painting with a roller are much, much darker than the areas done with a roller. The roller overlap lines are obvious, making the ceiling look striped. The ceiling is vaulted and 16 ft high at one end, so it is not an easy paint job, and now I have to do it again. What a waste of time and money. A gallon of milk would have been a better paint.

Last week used up some remaining GLIDDEN Ceilling Paint to do the up-stairs hallway and had great results with one coat. But I bought a gallon of this stuff to do the master bedroom ceiling today and hated the results. Did not like the way it covered and now I am going to the store tomarrow & get a gallon of GLIDDEN Tracking ceiling paint & redo the bedroom. My mistake buying the BEHR will coat me 3 hours of extra work..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for Ceilings, Unless Popcorn or Textured I was sold this by Homedepot associate in paint department. After the second coat and ceiling still looking terrible I read the can completely. It says on the can that the paint is for Popcorn and/or textured ceilings. I bought the 1 gal can of Ultra with primer and got a beautiful looking ceiling after 2 coats. So for an old guy who doesn’t like painting I ended up painting my ceiling 4 times. $27 for 2 gal Paul of paint and I got what I paid for.

I put 2 coats of this on my ceiling and ended up with roller streaks each time. I've used Behr wall paint before with good results so I gave up thinking that it was just me and hired a pro to do the ceiling. He applied 2 more coats before it appeared acceptably even and had problems with it as well. I would not expect to have to apply 4 coats. To be fair, the primer may have had something to do with it. The home is a modular and the primer was applied at the factory so there is no telling what was used. The painter remarked that it was awfully "dry" and absorbed the paint quickly. I started the job with a 9" roller 3/8" nap but the pro used an 18" roller with 1/2 " nap.

I used this ceiling paint about 3 years ago in a bathroom that had a chronic problem with mildew growing on the ceiling. I wiped the mildew stains off with a Clorox wipe and painted the ceiling with this product. This paint went on evenly and covered nicely in one coat. After these several years, the mildew has not returned. I can attest to the even coverage and mildew resistance of this paint
