Hello Peter,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this product can be applied to metal on the inside of a door, but it requires cleaning, etching, and then priming with a product like our No. 75 All-In-One Primer & Sealer. Please be sure to follow all label instructions for best results.
Well wishes for your project!

Easily scratched-off paint can be caused by many factors - from insufficient time to cure, to painting over a glossy surface, or to painting latex over oil-based (or vice versa). In a kitchen, paint can sometimes have trouble adhering to surfaces that have picked up airborne oils from cooking. I've seen a few cases where heavy tobacco use in the home over an extended period of time can leave a nasty, hard-to-cover film on walls and ceilings. I suppose a badly-drawing fireplace could also cause issues. Hopefully in your case it's just a matter of the new paint not yet being fully cured. Otherwise, you could have a pretty major repair project on your hands.
To prevent such problems in the future, make sure glossy surfaces are roughed up by lightly sanding them, that any surfaces that aren't clean are washed down, and that you use an appropriate primer if you're painting oil over latex or vice versa. If necessary, paint a small area and test it for proper adhesion before you do the whole project. Remember that surface prep is exceedingly important and can constitute half (or more) of the total effort when painting. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ultra Pure White Eggshell Enamel Zero voc Interior Paint I had purchased a bright yellow paint from Benjamin Moore and choose to lighten over it with a light tone color with BEHR paint. The color was exactly what I wanted, all I used was one coat. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This has a great color and sheen This was used to paint around window ledges and bath / bedroom doors ( that were painted creme before) Our painter said it adhered well, gave a clean look and liked it compared to the BMoore product he usually uses : ) August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Eggshell Enamel Paint easy to use. Looks good. Would recommend to friends. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good paint. Nice colors, covers very well with two coats. Smells a bit strong but not awful. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for selling your home! I wanted to sell my condo, and so I asked the Home Depot paint guy what paint I should use to sell my place. This was the paint he gave me. The low odor was great, but the color was amazing! It made my little condo look big, super clean and super classy. Such an elegant color! It matched every too. Everyone who saw my condo complimented me on the paint color. I sold the condo for my asking price even. She bought it because the condo was so clean looking. It's magic paint! Oh ya, get it in eggshell. Another big plus was that I didn't have to paint any of the trim a different color. I didn't have a single run either. Absolutely the best paint for selling a home fast. August 13, 2012
