Answer:
Hello Peter,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this product can be applied to metal on the inside of a door, but it requires cleaning, etching, and then priming with a product like our No. 75 All-In-One Primer & Sealer. Please be sure to follow all label instructions for best results.
Well wishes for your project!

Easily scratched-off paint can be caused by many factors - from insufficient time to cure, to painting over a glossy surface, or to painting latex over oil-based (or vice versa). In a kitchen, paint can sometimes have trouble adhering to surfaces that have picked up airborne oils from cooking. I've seen a few cases where heavy tobacco use in the home over an extended period of time can leave a nasty, hard-to-cover film on walls and ceilings. I suppose a badly-drawing fireplace could also cause issues. Hopefully in your case it's just a matter of the new paint not yet being fully cured. Otherwise, you could have a pretty major repair project on your hands.
To prevent such problems in the future, make sure glossy surfaces are roughed up by lightly sanding them, that any surfaces that aren't clean are washed down, and that you use an appropriate primer if you're painting oil over latex or vice versa. If necessary, paint a small area and test it for proper adhesion before you do the whole project. Remember that surface prep is exceedingly important and can constitute half (or more) of the total effort when painting. Read Less

Answer:
No, not at our Home Depot stores. Ironically, the self checkout asks about custom colors, but the price is ultimately based on the paint base, not the color. The higher the gloss (sheen), the higher the cost. Flat sheen bases are the least expensive, and the high gloss bases are the most expensive.

Answer:
No, having your paint tinted does not change the price.
The difference in the paint sheen is dependent on the solids and polymers that the manufacture puts in the paint. The higher the sheen the more expensive it is. For example, Flat is the cheapest, satin & eggshell are a little more, semi even more and high gloss paint is the most expensive.

Answer:
Hi Orangefarmer,
Thanks for your question! No, the price is the same for a custom matched color. The difference you're seeing is between sheens. Generally, the price goes up with every sheen level.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 722 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stuff... A superior product. I bought this to "replace" a brand new gallon of premium Valspar, that was bought at Lowes...GARBAGE!! The Valspar was like trying to paint with rubber cement. I AM NOT a fan of paint with primer...period. The combo is nothing but a marketing ploy/fad created by the paint mfg's. It's not nearly as effective as a traditional primer base coat, followed by a color top coat. In disgust, I went to H.D. looking for a "primerless" replacement for the Lowe's Valspar. The counterman at The Depot told me that this version of Behr claims "paint and primer" on the label, but he then went on to let me know that the primer component was minimal, and that the paint performed just like old-school Behr...he was correct. GREAT STUFF! May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really good paint This is good paint. With proper preparation (and priming over dark colors) it covers in one coat. I have used this paint for years and it is very durable and easy to clean. I use the eggshell finish in kitchen and bath since I feel like it is easier to clean than matte or flat finishes are. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good paint Covers similar colors very well with only one coat, rolls well, very little splatter, fairly forgiving. Holds up to cleaning (mild soap) to remove marks and does not fade too fast so you can go back months later for a touch up and don't even notice it. I use a fan and typically can start re-hanging picture and mounting electrical plates with in 45 min. to an hour. I have not tried to use this paint to paint over a dark color with a lighter color with out first putting on a coat of blocker so I cannot tell you it it will work or not. It's been my experience that regardless of the paint brand it does not work too well. I find that if I do not put on a blocker I end up putting on three coats of paint instead of two. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful! I chose a light blue which brightened my foyer. This paint is a delight to work with. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Would Highly Reco9mmend This Paint Perfect color and went on with just one coat. The room looks fabulous! June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brings a gaudy room to life! The previous color of this room was a dirty beige that needed some color to bring it to life. We use this as an office, so the eggshell green gave this a homey and comfortable feeling. The color went on easy and covered well. The accuracy of the color was astounding from the paint sample we matched up in the store. This paint by Behr covers well and is very durable. January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Behr eggshell Good overall paint. Goes on well as well as thins well for spraying. May 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not match my Benjamin Moore paint The color match did not work so the areas that I touched up in my child's playroom did not match. So I now have big bright spots of new paint. So I will be forced to repaint the whole room. May 17, 2016
