I was a Glidden customer thru Home Depot
for years. Then HD bought? Behr and started promoting it. I've worked with it on 3 projects. This will be my last! My painters actually had to apply 3 to 4 coats to get proper coverage and this was Behrs premium line. It is expensive and the quality is poor! I won't use this brand again!

Three coats over a pale gray and I still have to do more to get complete coverage. This paint flows terribly- even with a loaded 2.5" brush you'll be lucky to get a solid 16" line. Off the roller it sags. As a primer it fails and as a paint it is a waste of money- and it's not the cheapest paint. The convenience of grabbing it on a Depot run was completely negated because of the time wasted by having to apply three coats. Should have stuck with Ben Moore.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Evan Needs two coats even when applied to a previously-primed surface
I hesitate to not recommend the product. The color is good for an "ultra pure white", it adheres well, and is easily worked. The problem I experienced is that the coverage was not exceptional. I used this to paint my ceilings which were all previously primed with PVA, and it is obvious that a second coat is required even though I was painting white-on-white. My next biggest gripe is that the finish does not look like flat to me; it has a definitively higher sheen.

The paint coverage was great, but the smell while it was drying was horrible! It took over two weeks for the smell to vanish.

The Behr premium ultra pure white is a great product, is all I need for a perfect finish. Unlike other painting stores out there that are only names and way too expensive. Home Depot is my preferred store.

Paint went on the ceiling and walls of the garage easily. Both walls and ceilings were textured, and one coat covered both completely. In fact over half of the walls were brand new texture. I thought the new texture would take an extra coat, but after the paint dried I could not tell where the new texture was.

I used Behr paint when we built our house. Our painters wanted to use Sherwin Williams paint, but we insisted on Berh in light of the excellent Consumer Report reviews. We loved it. A few years later, we finished our basement and this time listened to our painters (mostly because we just didn't want to argue about it). We thought, how different can it be? Well, fast forward 13 years on the Behr and 11 on the basement Sherwin Williams. We are prepping our house for sale and are touching up scuffs, dings, etc. Every wall we used the Behr on could be touched up without having to paint the entire wall (which was pretty much throughout the main and upper floors of our very large house). They were all perfect matches. All the Sherwin Williams walls that we had to touch up in the basement had to be entirely repainted due to fading. FYI, the basement has significantly less sun exposure than the main and upper floors. This is a microcosm of the Consumer Report study :-). The photo shows where we touched up a door handle divit and scuffs and it is a perfect match. I will never use any paint other than Behr.
