Answer:
The machine has a guide wheel that runs along the curb or sidewalk therefore, I do not think it will work for your purpose unless you have a firm curb beside the area you are trenching. You might be able to rent an edger to try it out and see, which would save you from a large purchase.

Answer:
That's how I put in an invisable fence. Scalp the route down to bare soil with your weed eater, then take the edge hog with a new blade t max depth. Should get you about an inch & a half, but still below the grass roots. So it will stay there.

Answer:
No, the blade is straight. I have walks and this machine does an excellent job at making straight cuts. If you however wish to find a machine that does carved and curved cuttings, you will have to upgrade to a professional machine. It has a regular cut and a trench cut, but these are not the carved cuts of professional landscape machines.

The manufacturer would be able to answer that, but from experience, I can tell you that (2) 50' extension cords plugged together work on my Edge Hog.

Answer:
You need a utility cord approved for outdoor use. You can pick one up at any dept store. I never exceed 100 ft. Do you think you'd be safe with 2, 100 ft cords? If you can do it try, but I recommend having complete control of your power cord and to be able to see it clearly at all times. Have someone watch the cord while you experiment.

Answer:
I use a 100ft length of a standard utility cord approved for outdoor use. Beyond this I am uncertain about length limits. However, if you are cutting a vast area and several hundred feet away from an electric source I would suggest purchasing a professional quality gas powered trimmer. This would much safer.

Answer:
You can use an outdoor 14-2 100 foot heavy duty extension cord. They are rated at around 12 amps. Anything longer then that your going to build up heat in the cord. Especially if you live where it's real hot to begin with. Home Depot has a real nice one made by Ridgit for around $50 which should last you a life time if taken care of.

Can I also use this edger as a trimmer, or do I have to buy a trimmer and an edger? I have the Worx trimmer/edger right now.

Answer:
Basically, this trimmer busts through sod overhanging walks and drives. It does not trim weeds like a weed wacker or string trimmer. It will also bust through sod edge of potential flower beds you wish to plant. But this is not an all purpose weed trimmer.

Answer:
Its not a trimmer, its an edger that creates an edge by removing a small channel of dirt and grass roots.
To trim up as the edge of the actual grass begins to grow in, you still need a trimmer.
This edger give a much cleaner and longer lasting edge than edging with a trimmer.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 351 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Essential garden tool The assembly is not difficult although setting the depth is a bit tricky. The tool works as described & does a nice job, especially on an older, grass hugging edge. My only wish is that it could change directions of the cut as it's pretty much a one-way affair (i.e. the wheels have to be on the grass & not in the bed or you must keep the blade to the right of what you are cutting). I would also like an additional handle further down the pole for ease in moving/carrying it. That said I was a happy gardener when I saw the results. My former attempts with a sideways mounted weed whacker could just not cut through the embedded grass roots along the edges of some of my beds. July 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First use after puchase Took 7 minutes to assemble with a mistake of mounting the handle upside down. Didn't have to look at the instructions (with exception to the handle). No tools needed. First use after purchase...I am 6'2" and no problem with height. Would be nice if it was a little taller, maybe if there was an adjustment, but really no complaint. Went through caterpillar grass with ease. Used 14 gauge extension cord, no problem with power. Use to take full day just to do edging, with this, took less than 5 minutes. July 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product This is a very good product for the price. There's very little assembly needed and this edger has a lot of power which results in a good clean edging job. July 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the money for small jobs This particular product was purchased to edge the drive way so I did not need a powerful machine. It works well but I would not push it to do heavy work especially in very dry weather when the ground is hard. For the price I paid it is exactly what I need. It is a little unsteady and I get nervous that the edger blade will hit the concrete so I have to hold it steady and go slow. I like the adjustable height on the handle but I do not like the protective plug. I had to buy a different type of extension cord. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love It Opened box and easy to assemble. Easy instructions. Works great. Saves weed eater edging. Makes yard look professional. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy Gas Trimmer Edger Attachment So I first tried an edger attachment for gas string trimmer and that was a huge mistake. Not only is it physically damanding but alot of times it's hard to keep it straight and it bogs down a lot. I have a bad back so I should have considered this before I bought it. I was on the fence about an electric edger not being powerful enough but truth is it has plenty of power. The string trimmer edger attachment bogged down a lot but I didn't have any issue with this B&D edger. It's easy to use, changing depth is super easy and the results look great. My only regret is not buying this one in the first place. Do yourself a favor and consider this electric edger, you won't regret it. May 28, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good one This edger is good does ots job and easy to use even for first timers. Also u dont have to worry about the oil and gas mix . Also love the 2 wheels which makes alignment easy June 29, 2016
