Will this dig deep enough to bury cable for an invisible pet fence? (4 inches or so?)

Asked by: lrogoz
The trench is only as wide as the blade. I would look for an alternative for trenching.

How does this edger do on a street curb(no sidewalk)? Looks like a curb would be too narrow.

Asked by: Schatzi
I know exactly what you're talking about. Use the 'blade side' of the unit, Not the 'guide side' next to the curb, in other words you'll be using the machine with out the guide. Its more wearing on the blade But yes, the unit is too wide for the rearwheels to stay on the top of most curbs.

So easy to use, just plug in with a nice long extension cord, push the handle lever and off it goes. My lawn (along the sidewalk, 75 feet and along the curved driveway, about 60 feet) hadn't been edged in at least 3 years and I finished the job in less than an hour. I am 64 years old and have disability in both arms and yet I was able to handle the edger with no problems.

This was bought as a replacement to an older Black and Decker edger and I could not be more pleased! It works, and made fast work of my large lawn, which now looks very professionally cared for. I am glad I have this tool, and I highly recommend it.

Because of the amount of overgrowth in some areas I had to go over it twice, but no problem with it at all. Very clean cut and would highly recommend to anyone tired of having to pull start a gas powered edger. IMO it's just as good as a gas powered edger without all the starting problems.

Edging is obviously a dusty job, but I am a bit concerned that I hear grit inside the edger housing, Unsure if this will cause premature failure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential garden tool The assembly is not difficult although setting the depth is a bit tricky. The tool works as described & does a nice job, especially on an older, grass hugging edge. My only wish is that it could change directions of the cut as it's pretty much a one-way affair (i.e. the wheels have to be on the grass & not in the bed or you must keep the blade to the right of what you are cutting). I would also like an additional handle further down the pole for ease in moving/carrying it. That said I was a happy gardener when I saw the results. My former attempts with a sideways mounted weed whacker could just not cut through the embedded grass roots along the edges of some of my beds.

I bought this edger near the end of the season in 2015, used it all of 2016, then the first time out in 2017 it stopped working. As it is no longer in warranty I was instructed by Home Depot to contact the Black and Decker service office. I would not buy this product again nor recommend it due to the poor quality of the product.
