Gears wore down and went out after about 10 hours of use leaving me short on a project. Metal gears that would increase the unit price only slightly and add tons of durability are highly recommended.

The sander packs a lot of punch for its small(er) size, and the included pads/paper or a great starter set. I especially like the interchangeable tip options — great for contouring and tight spaces.

This is my second Mouse, used the 1st one for years and finally wore it out. The new model is much improved. Quieter, less vibration and a new design which makes changing from fingertip sanding to full pad sanding nice and easy.

If you only need to use this sander for one or two projects, then go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, buy a better name sander. My first one burned up after about 6 months. I hoped it was just a fluke so I replaced it with the same model. NOPE, it wasn't a fluke. I just threw my second one in the garbage after 8 months. I do use them very often as I refinish furniture. But, I will not buy this model again. I will buy one of the bigger brand names...sure I will pay more but I highly suspect it will be worth it.

Filter will not stay attached. The size and design of the sander is an awkward fit for the hand, not easy to handle. I used a cheap-charlie off-brand (for 3-years) prior to purchasing this B&D. Thought I was upgrading with the B&D. The off-brand out-performed the B&D. Very disappointed.

It is an excellent product. It was the first time I use something like that and worked wonderful for my project. I really recommend.

I usually shy away from black and Decker but this is the only sander that could get to the tight little places on high end teak furniture. I probably have 30+ hours sanding with it so far and it still works well. The finger tip attachment was the main reason I bought it and it works great. In not crazy about the other two contour attachments though, and the dust collector should be discarded straight to the garbage right out of the box, but if your sanding outside or with a fan on you, who needs it anyway.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by pxlpainter Great idea, but...
As a crafter of small items, the mouse sander was perfect for reaching those small curves and angles. My first one broke while still under warranty, and Black and Decker shipped me another for free. It worked well for awhile, but when I picked it up to finish a recent project, I discovered that the plastic pin that holds the sanding plate on had broken on one corner, making it vibrate to the point of not being able to control it. I haven't replaced it yet, but I will be looking for something built more solidly.
