Would it stand up to baseballs?

I'm making an L screen to throw behind to pitch to batters. This L screen will be made out of steel and covered with some type of netting to protect pitcher.

I really doubt this would be strong enough - I wonder if the "deer netting" would be strong enough?? Best bet is to maybe ask your local school PE teacher - used to be one....we had catalogues with all kinds of things like this and they also may have a suggestion.

How do I install bird neting around medium fig tree.

The birds always get the figs before I do?
Asked by: VKay
EX-NEW YORKER I used to use this on my blueberries. When they started to turn blue and the birds would start eating I would put up my nets. Worked pretty well. Your southern birds are far more aggressive they did not wait for the fruit to ripen. Just stripped the plants clean of the green fruit. This year, I will be using nets once again. As to how to put up the nets. Realize the holes in the net are 3/4 of an inch. Your tree will continue to grow so you will have new growth poking through the net. Also if you do not secure the bottom of the net the birds and squirrels will quickly learn to get into your fruit from the bottom, PVC pipe is fairly inexpensive. Their are all kinds of fittings so it will be easy to make a box. Then you can slide the netting over the frame. You can bury larger pipe into the ground.and simply slide the uprights into the partially exposed larger pipe. I would not glue the pipe together. It will or should simply stay together by friction. You can then use clothes pins to hold the bottom of the net to the ground. My method is far more work then simply throwing the net over the plant. But you will not tear the net due to the tree growing through it. and you will not knock off as much fruit each time you need to crawl under the net to pick the fruit. .

14 ft. x 45 ft. Dalen Products Netting and 5/8 in. Polypropylene Mesh is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from A total waste A complete disaster. This mesh is so fine that it's almost invisible. If there is the slightest breeze, the stuff tangles hopelessly. Once tangled, you're all done. Almost impossible to untangle. I needed to cut it down to a more manageable size and that was just a mess. The only way this could be used is to unroll it as-is on to your tree or shrub or whatever. At the end of the season, just throw it away - you'll never be able to roll it up and store it for next year. And forget about adjusting the stuff once it's installed. I wasted my money. Should have bought heavier stuff that is more cooperative to handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wished I had bought this sooner Bought this netting to protect a few cucumber and tomato plants growing in our back yard from the birds. Netting was bigger than we needed but we cut it with scissors to the size we needed. Netting is light weight so we used bricks to weigh it down around the base of our plants. I am very pleased to say that this is the first year that none of our tomatoes or cucumbers have been eaten by the birds! Net is light enough to move when picking the tomatoes/cucumbers and is easy to water through. We are happy with our purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for our garden This is the second year we have used 2 pkgs of this netting to cover our 12' x 24' vegetable garden. The area is fenced to keep out deer, elk, etc. We arched several 1/2" pvc pipes to support the netting and draped it all the way to the ground. Bees and butterflies still get in there, which is great. I found only one bird entangled in it last year and happy ending, she was rescued and flew away. The netting has a sort of sparkle to it, so hoping most birds see that and stay away from it. So far so good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bird protection on berry bushes This works perfect for my blueberry bushes to keep the birds from eating my berries. Next year I plan to somehow stake it so I can more easily mow between the rows. My bushes are not very tall - maybe 4-5 feet so this netting is easy to flip up and get to the berries. Seems pretty durable and I'm expecting to be able to reuse this same netting next year too. Also you can't hardly even even see this netting once it is up so I don't have to look at some ugly netting blocking my pretty view. In fact my adult son came over and said, "Oh I thought you put up netting" - I said, "I did you just can't see it unless you are almost right on top of it!" I'm thrilled!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product You get alot of netting for the price, worked great. I placed over seeds I had planted, all my seeds came up, plus I was still able to feed the birds, right by my flower beds and garden, just what I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product was perfect for the purpose of protecting birds. I bought this netting to place in front of the windows that face my bird feeders, so that the birds could not fly into the windows.(I have it placed about a foot in front of the windows, not directly on the windows themselves). The netting does not affect the light coming in through the windows in any way, but now my bird friends are protected and I can enjoy them without guilt.
