Winter icing problem due to condensation

How do I hook up for winter condensation problems. Is there a smaller model available? Very small space.
Asked by: Ricksinet
I don't use the fans in the winter. If you have condensation problems, I would look into better insulation or there is no air flow.

Can two fans be installed? Same direction or different direction?

Asked by: Playa
Yes two fans work great. I have them on the same line but I did dedicate a separate feed just for the fans. Same direction

How do I order this and pay at the store?

Want item model#353
Asked by: Anonymous
I don't know if you can do that....if you order online, you have to pay for it then. You might be able to if you go to the special order desk at the store, but then you have to go to the store twice.

Customer Reviews

1020 CFM Power Gable Mount Attic Ventilator is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Going For Another 36 Years.... Obtained 36 years of service from the original Broan gable mount attic fan. So going with another identical Broan unit. New unit arrived right on schedule. Thermostat now mounted directly on fan unit...good improvement. Suggestion: To reduce transmitted fan noise to gable structure.. install 1/4" thick neoprene rubber isolation strips between the angle bracket-to-shroud ring attach points AND between all four angle bracket-to-gable structure attach points. This will definitely help reduce noise levels inside dwelling. I did this on my original installation 36 years ago...which resulted in very quiet operation. I noticed that the new fan is even quieter than the original. In operation 2 weeks...very smooth and quiet. Hopefully get good reliability from this unit as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short Life I had this fan installed in August of 2013. It is still spinning but the noise has gotten really loud and I just disconnected it and will replace it with a different brand. The warranty was only for one year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised Simple install, works as advertised and pleased with how quiet it is. Installed in the attic above the master bedroom and can only hear it if you listen closely for it, otherwise unprovable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good fan Well built fan. If mounted using rubber washers not near as loud.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fan Installation I installed this fan to replace a defective 11 plus year old fan of a similar make and model. Easy installation, however I was expecting the thermostat and wiring to be attached by a small cable. This one has the thermostat and wiring directly attached to the back of the fan. With some minor movement of my existing electrical cable, went right into place. Much quieter than the old one. For this price and free delivery I recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Questionable Quality! Bought two of the Broan Power Gable Vent fans in June 2014. The fans both ran as required for the summer and were turned off in October 2014. When turned back on in April 2015, one of the fans would not run at all. Bought another Broan 353 for Home Depot (Online Purchase) to replace the dead fan. Broan Technical Support told me that two fans (one on each end of a ranch style house of 2000 sq feed is excessive - I am starving the fans of air and causing them to overheat. I have HardieSoffit that provides a continuous soffit around the house at five square inches per lineal foot, plus an additional gable vent on the back side extension of the house that provides a third bedroom and two car garage - total intake area is over twelve square feet, which exceeds the recommended minimum intake area proscribed by Broan. These are apparently not high quality fans - less than 8-10 years of performance is unacceptable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheaper than others I went on a few web sites for this fan and found that Home Depot was the cheapest and the delivery was fast. The only thing I changed was: I purchased a separate thermostat so I can regulate it from my closet at different times of the year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install, but LOUD Nice quality at this price, and relatively easy to install (I was able to prepare the mounting site in advance, knowing the product's dimensions). Thermostat is a nice touch. Deciding on a model was NOT easy, however, owing to the many different CFM ratings and the wide range in pricing. My only complaint is that this model is WAY LOUDER than expected, which I found disappointing. My 'trick' of ordering a lower-CFM unit - thinking it would be quiet - did not work out. Of course, my application (a work shed with a high ceiling but nothing between me and the fan) is unusual. So, I wound up having to purchase the Broan 72W fan speed control, and will be replacing the shut-off switch with it. No big deal, since I know that will solve the noise issue.
