Is there a vent duct designed to go through a floor or through the eve of a house. Most vent ducts I've seen are designed to go through a wall.

Asked by: CHUCK
It is designed for wall mount. You can buy a roof flashing and it would work for that.

Are there magnets keeping the door closed? I read that the best style vent cover is one with small magnets that keep the door closed when the fan/dryer is not in use. Does this have this? If not, does it stay closed in storms etc when not in use?
Asked by: WeCanFixItYesWeCan
No magnets. Seems to stay closed when not in use. I insulated around the pipe to help somewhat with the draft.

Used this to exhaust a bathroom exhaust out the gable end of a manufactured home with vaulted ceiling and no "attic" access. Much easier and less risky than cutting a hole in the roof. Installing this was easy as could be expected in this situation and it looks good on the usually unseen north end of our home. Since the hole needed to be 4.5" I just drilled a 5" hole as my hole saw set only has 4" or 5" and it easily covered the 5" hole. Didn't use the included screws as they were way too long for my needs. The fan was about 3 joist spans away and I was able to remove about 2' of hose to make the connection with some slack to spare, so there was plenty for my needs. I used the zip ties, but also used some foil tape as well since it will be very difficult to make repairs in the future if the hose slips off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 'The ties that didn't bind' Kit worked acceptably. Ties broke immediately and we had to use tape. Cold weather eliminates foam spacer from being useful for outside cover installation. Metal for through-the-wall-snoot is really light. Use if budget is a concern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Works as expected, comes with just about everything you need, seems cheap but works great. Used a sheetrock drill bit for a hole in the stucco. Not sure why it won't let me rate four.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I thought the reducer from 3 to 4 inches... I thought the reducer from 3 to 4 inches would be metal, instead it was a half-inch foam sticky pad that you put on the pipe to expand it to 4 inches

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as described It worked add it was supposed to. Would have been nice if the hose/ tube would have been about a foot longer, but it works.
