Does the wider width(3 1/4") of the hickory Autumn wheat solid hardwood seem to have more issues with "bad boards" compared to the 2 1/4" wide

Looking at the solid hardwood flooring and concerned that the reviews often mention bad boards in the bundles. Have hickory in my house and know it is a very tough wood to work with and wondered if there was less twisting in the narrower planks? Also noticed that the wider width (3 1/4) has a 30 year finish warranty as compared to the (2 1/4') with 25 year - why the difference?

I ordered the Hickory Autumn Wheat flooring for my home office about 6 months ago. I read a few complaints about there being large numbers of defects in previous orders. I let the flooring sit in the room for a few weeks and then started installation. When installing, we opened all of the boxes and found any pieces with defects (warping, scratches, etc) and placed them aside. Overall there weren't too many pieces that were defective and we were able use those pieces on ends where we could cut out the defective portion, resulting in very little waste. 6 months later with a large (80 lbs) dog and these floors still look like new. I haven't noticed any scratches and the color still looks great. I ended up buying more to finish out the main level of my house.

My installer was very impressed with the product and stated this is real hardwood, meaning hard to get a nail through. Being a professional installer he kept saying how nice the grain is and the finish. When he trying to nail the last piece at the wall, he needed to drill the hole first then use his nail gun. Highly recommend this for your house. Looks great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most beautiful floor ever This flooring is beautiful. It is great quality. We installed ourselves and all of the pieces were well made and fit together snugly. The variety of color and size of pieces is wonderful. This floor is my favorite thing in the whole house. Just remember that hickory is very, very hard. That means durable, but it means it is that much harder to drive a nail through to install as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ORDER EXTRA!!!! DUE TO "BAD" BOARDS in each bundle The flooring is very nice and the All American Made logo from the wood to the packaging was well received. We pulled our old carpet out of the den and old hardwoods out of the dining room and replaced it all with the pre-finished hickory. We painstakingly removed the old hardwood to reuse in a different area so we could have the look of a seamless floor on the first level. YIKES!.....We used roofing felt as the moisture barrier and laid this on top. THE ONLY thing I want buyers to know is to make sure that you order AT LEAST 10% over what you need because there are A LOT of "bad" boards in the bundles. We ordered the 10% overage and I honestly think we needed another bundle or 2 to replace the bad boards. That's the only reason this does not get a 5 star rating. There were boards with "dings" on the edges that we had to touch up to get our job done. Other than that, the flooring is very nice. We would order again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great floor for the $ Installed this floor in a newly constructed 3 season room. Have had it down for about 3 months now and this is our back entryway. 1 dog and 2 kids later, still looks like new. Looked at other, more expensive floors, but saw very little difference in quality for the price. Like any other hardwood, a little care needs to be exercised. Time and use will tell if it holds up over time, but so far, so good. BTW, we have other "conventional" style hardwoods in the house and this one receives the most compliments.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality The installed floor is beautiful and was an excellent value so top marks on both accounts. This type of floor is not for the DIY unless there is a good level of experience going into the project. The quality of pieces overall was average. Of the first 18 cases we ordered we returned a total of 3 cases due to flaws, warping, and damaged tongues and/or groves. So we ordered 4 more and returned one of those. We had enough lead time to do this and not set our project back. Yet if the flooring had arrived two days ahead of installation to acclimate I am sure that a lot of inferior pieces would have been used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome looking flooring We installed app 650 sq ft in living room and kitchen, new construction. We had 32 boxes and they all were different lenghts and colors. Some more colorful then others. I took the time to open at least 4-5 boxes at the time and lay out pieces for the guys to nail down. I'm glad I did as it turned out great when done. Took 3 people almost 3 days with all the cuts, kitchen island and such. Ordered 15% more and with few damaged pieces, few not so good looking and cuts we had just enough. Shipping from HD was super fast, few boxes were damaged when the guy took them off but ended up no issue. Can't beat that flooring for that price. Only installed for 6 weeks so can't comment on durability but getting lots of compliments.
