Product Overview

Is there anything worse than finding that your motorcycle has a dead battery on the first warm day of spring. Keep the batteries on your recreational vehicles powered up and ready to go while in storage, or over the winter, so they are ready to roll when you are. Use the Battery Float Charger for the maintenance of wet or gel cell batteries that are stored or used periodically in boats, cars, snowmobiles, ATV’s and tractors. The Battery Float Charger prevents self-discharge of the battery, while maintaining and extending the life of rechargeable 120-volt batteries. The Battery Float Charger maintains a battery charge for batteries rated from 5 to 125 amp-hours, by providing a 13.5 VDC max output. Other types of chargers provide a strong, rapid charge but tend to boil out liquids and decay electrodes. The Battery Float Charger is intended only to keep a fully charged battery from losing its charge. It will not work to charge a battery that is discharged or damaged. Check the voltage of the battery to be charged. Do not use charger if the battery voltage is less than 9.6-volts.

  • Keep your battery fully charged in storage or during cold weather
  • Use on 12-Volt DC batteries
  • Output: 12-Volt DC, 600 mA, maximum output: 13.5-Volt DC
  • Capacity: 5 to 125Ah batteries
  • Input: 120-Volts AC
  • 60 Hz, 14 Watts
  • 53 in. battery lead cables
  • Meter display shows when battery is charging

Why is this described as a trickle charger in one place and a float charger in another? My understanding is that trickle chargers can charge a dead battery ... and can even damage one if left on too long ... while a float charger is meant only to maintain a fully charged battery. Am I wrong?
Asked by: Andy
Mike's Answer is wrong. The Question is a correct one. A Float Charger is a completely different thing than a trickle charger. I went to Buffalo Tools own website and read the operating manual for this model: BFC-12. It is a Float Charger. The Home Depot website is wrong. If you're looking for a float charger, which is intended to maintain a healthy battery during storage and such, then this is the correct item. It will shut off and on automatically to maintain the battery's charge without danger of over-charging or explosion, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For My Motorcycle Battery I bought this for my motorcycle battery cause it died when i was trying to start it and a friend told me to take it out in the winter time or the battery could crack from freezing of the electrolyte if it not charged, so i took it out and put it in my basement with this trickle charger on it and it has kept it charged since i got it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding product I have the BFC12 maintainer that i purchased in March 2014. It only has the red indicator light, not the green light also. I have it connected to my Kia Sedona and it works super. I swear by it. The car sits for months on end and when I hit the start it never fails, the battery stays fully charged and ready to go. One observation, READ the instructions. It states that the battery initially MUST be fully charged when you hook up the unit to it. I am buying two more for my lawnmower and second car. Of course I will make sure that the batteries are FULLY CHARGED when I hook it up. Outstanding Product, you cannot go wrong for the price!
