The house I just purchased had a contractor grade standard door separating my entry foyer from the stairs leading down into my basement.  Until I got accustomed to the house, I kept confusing the space as a closet and it really annoyed me.  I vowed then to replace the door with something more formal looking to compliment the space and showcase the basement... which I have big plans for turning into my man-space. In order to accomplish that dream, I purchased this product and I am very glad I did.  It's a quality product that has a professional look beyond the price point its sold at.  It is far superior to the standard door it replaced and I actually received several compliments from friends who really liked the way it accents my foyer. Because this is a slab, you will need to cut openings for a doorknob and hinges.  I used the Ryobi template (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-Wood-Metal-Door-Lock-Installation-Kit-A99DLK4/205209873) for the doorknob and then a chisel for the hinges.  Now that it's finished and properly hung, it looks fantastic, was easy to paint, and actually simple to install. It really sets the space apart and I highly recommend it as an easy upgrade to a solid door.

Each pain of glass has an etched notice in the lower left hand corner stating that the glass is safety glass. Instead of it being obscure like some other companies, Jeld-wen (the actual manufacturer) makes very little attempt to minimize the etching and it is quite an eye catcher- there are 15 pains of glass and each one has the etching. I spoke to Jeld-wen and they would not do anything about it even though in every picture of the door on line there is no indication of the etching. I recommend looking for other brands before buying this one if you think this will bother you aesthetically.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Separated! I thought these doors were solid wood! It seems to be a laminate. The first coat of paint caused it to separate, its lifting around the edges of glass panes and bubbling in other places. Rather than to return and have to do all the cuts again, I'm going to try to inject some glue and use clamps to compress. I don't know, but 1 out of 3 doors purchased isn't a very good percentage! My advice....if you must buy it, try to buy one that the cellophane wrap is COMPLETELY in tact, never thought it could be an issue! I may have purchased a fluke but based on my experience with this door, I can not recommend.

I bought seven slabs and they are all perfect. Wood doors are an excellent choice for those of us who are concerned with the environmental impacts of metal and plastic manufacturing. These doors are an even better choice because they come from locally harvested and processed wood. Forests are renewable, carbon friendly and energy efficient.

The door appears warped after it was hung and it was installed by a professional carpenter, who stated it was a poor quality door. Also THERE IS THE TRADEMARK INSIGNIA ON "EVERY" pane of glass. Since it was covered with plastic on each pane of glass, it wasn't discovered until the door was painted and the plastic was removed. This was not evident on the pictures online.

It came with plastic covering the glass so it could be painted. Good idea. However, because of the plastic I wasn't able to see the obvious marking on every pane of glass stating that it was safety glass. Those markings were not evident on line either. The door itself is great, but the markings are an eyesore. The design department could have found a way to make it more obscure.

Installation was not an open and shut case but was not too much of a pane either. At one point I was in kind of a jamb, but ultimately my success hinged on careful measurement.
