Is the power cord that goes inside the wall CL rated?

Asked by: Nick
It's not an extension cord it's the same type of cable that is used for a power outlet installed by an electrician (Romex cable). It is absolutely in wall rated and meets all fire and electric codes.

TV and outlet in different locations

Can I use this product if my TV is mounted to the wall in one place, say in the middle of the room over the fireplace. I want to hide the cords and bring them to the left corner of the room; is it easy to do this or is it only feasible if the cords are going up and down from the tv?
Asked by: slapshot212
You can do a non-vertical install by doing the standard installation (NOT using the tube) however you are limited in length. The NM cord has molded outlets built into both ends of the cords. Then you have to figure out where the blockages are in the wall. I would recommend you have an electrician regular install outlets for you to be sure.

Great Product with Professional Looking Results When mounting my LED television this is exactly what I was looking for. The kit was 100% complete with everything you need to do the job (minus the actual drill). Step by step instructions were good, but the video was even better. I actually had my cell phone on the video contained here on the HD website and would watch each step, stop the video to perform the task and go back and forth to repeat the process until the job was done. Going very slowly and methodically, it took me about 1 hour to do the complete job from start to finish. I couldn't be happier with the results and the fact I know it is much more compliant method than just dropping the cord behind the wall is a big relief. I attached a photo of the finished product. I realize it doesn't show the product, but with a kit like this, that is ultimately what you are after, right?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy to install The hardest part was feeding the cables through and thats probably because I did not follow the cutting directions of the video because that did not make sense to me. I cut the length from bottom of top hole to top of bottom hole. The zig zag pattern of the tube caught each cable head while I was inserting. But it was totally worth the trouble. I have recommended this kit to two people so far that have asked "how did you hide the cables" and I'll continue to recommend. This 40 year old lady installed her 65 in all by her lonesome :D

As long as you have the basic tools, this kit comes with everything you'll need. I was surprised to see that the hole saw was also included. I'm happy with how well the install went and also knowing that I have a raceway if I ever need to run more wires. Highly recommend this product if you're hanging you TV. (I have yet to run the speaker wires behind the wall and finish the rest of the install.)

It includes a hole saw which is a plus. The instructions are fairly clear and installed in about 30 minutes. For the cords that are going to utilize this, measure from the point of connection to your device, to the top entry point, down the wall to the exit point, the to the other connection point on your other device. In other words, TV to wall entry point, down the wall to exit point, back up to game console/dvd player/etc. I ran through three different cords before settling on a 10 foot HDMI cord for a flat-screen about 6 ft off the floor to the first opening point level down to the second opening level with current wall outlets to a game console about 42 inches off the floor. It's important to note these cables had chokes (those little barrel looking things attached to some electronic cords) at each end of the HDMI cord and they would NOT go through the supplied hole covers. Since both openings are behind something it's not a big deal. I'm running one TOSLINK optical cable, three HDMI cables, and the really thin wire that connects the WII to the motion sensor through the supplied in-wall tube. I don't think I could get anything else in there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheaper than the one at Best Buy but also more complicated. From the video it seems there are two versions; one oval and the other round. Fortunately my local Home Depot had the round one so only one top hole and one bottom hole is needed. The main distinction on these vs the ones at bestbuy is the conduit for HDMI cords etc. The ones at bestbuy assume you have in-wall rated cords and this one assumes you do not. (if the cords are not in-wall rated then they must be in conduit to be legal) If you HAVE inwall rated cords you don't need to use the conduit. PS Dont even think about putting an extension power cord in the wall. It is illegal and a fire hazard that could void your insurance.
