Hello cstreet, and thank you for your question. For clarity, we'll refer to the machine that physically raises and lowers your door as a garage door opener, and we will refer to the device you keep in your vehicle as a remote control. Each door requires it's own garage door opener, but you can use up to 12 remote controls for each garage door opener.

Hello, and thank you for your question. If the keypad is removed from it's installed location, a known, programmed PIN is still required to open the door. In short, no, the burglar could not open the door.

Whisper Drive 3/4 HP Garage Door Opener with MyQ Technology and Battery Backup is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 150.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Battery Backup Not Worth It I purchased this opener back in 2009 (my version did not have the smart phone capability). It has worked really well except for one big flaw. The battery used for the battery back-up only lasts a few years. Then the opener is programmed like a smoke alarm would be to continually sound until you change the battery. I'm sorry, but that is not necessary at all! Not having a functioning battery back-up is not on the level of a smoke alarm not working, and is beyond annoying. Plus the battery used is not something you can run to just any store and pick up. It uses a special battery and the special battery is much more expensive than a typical battery. On top of this, in the 7 years I have had the opener, I have had to open the garage door while the power was out a total of zero times. My advice, skip on the battery backup - not worth it. The opener it self is a good product minus this feature.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems with every season I purchased this garage door opener to replace one that was 35 years old. It was installed by a reputable company and updates to the other existing hardware were done. It worked great until the warranty was over. Every time the season changes I have new problems with using the door opener. All winter it reopens when a 1/8in is under it. Spring comes and it takes hitting the remote twice to get it to open. Purchasing a new car and connecting it so I can use the car connection to close the door started all sorts of new problems. It won't stay closed and for weeks I kept getting a message that something was in the way. I swept out every piece of lint in the tracks and that didn't help, finally I vacuumed inside the tracks and it started working again for two days. Now I get the message number 42 - excessive force. I haven't changed a setting on this door since it was installed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work for Older Overhead door I have a Learn button on the Overhead door Legacy door opener and spent about an hour trying all 9 combinations listed on the minimal guide provided. I called the number listed but its not for the Universal Door opener, another 10 minutes wasted. Then on went on the website and tried to locate something that I might be doing wrong. But the website provides a larger size manual. It still doesn't work, I should have gotten the hint when I purchased it the were a couple of packages that looked opened and returned. Now I know why, Doesn't work with Overhead Door.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with my 2013 Avalon Read all reviews and come to same conclusions. I had no choice of the Garage door openers as my Garage was destroyed when a vehicle ran into it and the garage door openers were included in the repair. I also did not have my 2013 Avalon at that time so was not aware of ability to open door from vehicle. Since I did not have to Pay for the door openers? (I certainly paid with a destroyed Garage). I will opt for this Bridge to enable this feature on my car. If I understand correctly, I do not have to carry the bridge remote and can use the button on my mirror.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I am so tired of everything Chamberlain I had a ridiculously old Genie garage door opener that worked perfectly until it died at the age of 20+ years. Since I have had Chamberlain, it has been one signal interference issue after another. This remote will not work on my detached garage unless I am inside the garage. Not helpful. Brand new, yet still will not work. I repeat, I NEVER had interference or signal problems with Genie, but I have yet to find a Chamberlain system that will consistently work without interference. Terrible brand. Will NEVER buy their openers or anything again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid for two years and counting This garage door opener has served me well for two years now and counting. It was a bit of a pain to install since I had to do it by myself, but overall it went Ok. This thing is indeed very quiet. The door goes up quickly, and considering we have an over-sized garaged door, that is impressive. The battery back-up has saved us a few times. We live in an older neighborhood with a lot of old trees. When there is any heavy wet snow or ice we tend to lose power for an hour or so each time. We have no worries about getting in or out. The battery seems to have lost a bit of its capacity, but that is expected over time. Overall this is a great opener!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Opener This is one of the best garage door openers I have ever owned. Quite and smooth as silk. I sometimes have to look back to double check that it's actually operating. I purchased this after my 10 year old unit died when one of the garage door springs broke. The repairman from a national chain recommended a Chamberlain belt drive while having a some Genie units in his truck. With regards to the battery, if you don't want to use it then either don't install it or if you want the beeping to stop; unplug the opener, remove the battery, plug it back in, problem solved. And for the gentleman having issues with the opening and closing, this unit has one of the most intuitive adjustment systems I have ever seen. Either read the manual or call up that reputable installer to come back and do it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't support third party integ like IFTTT Not a very forward thinking product which is surprising given what the product is. Customers have been begging for support with 3rd party API's like IFTTT for years, which has been a base feature for most of their competitors for years. There has been zero movement from their engineering team around supporting it. I'd return it if I could, but got it as a gift and didn't have the heart ask the gift giver to give me the receipt so I can return it.
