Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chris I've had my grill for a year... The starter button has broke off from the front and now hangs inside the grill, the tru plate has rusted and has several holes in it burning food, the temperature reader has to be tapped consistently while cooking for it to read correctly as it sticks, and HomeDepot assembled the side plates on incorrectly and they don't even function. I'm so upset that I want to take the grill to HomeDepot and throw it out of the truck at the front door. I'm livid with Char-Broil and Homedepot!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WeberOwner16 Tru Infrared Disappoints
I was attracted to the idea of Tru- Infrared cooking, where the burners are housed under a solid pan. Seemed like it would be easier maintenance, but found that with nowhere for the drippings to go but onto the super heated plate, everything cooked had an overly smokey, burnt flavor, no matter how low the temperature. Switched to a traditional Weber Grill after 2 years. No going back. Though this is discontinued, I would avoid this type of cooking system!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BahamaGriller Perfect grilled meats
Grilling for over 40 years, sometimes 3-4 times a week, I've used many different grills - this one cooks the very best! No flair ups! Nothing but perfectly cooked meat every time - it takes a few times to get use to cooking by measuring the thickness of the meat, setting the timer, and not watching, however after 1-1/2 year of using this grill, it is the very best way to grill with perfect juicy meat every time. Our bottom pan burned out just before we had to put for a new one (CharBroil sent us one free), but since then we put the wood chips in a separate pan to see if the catch pan lasts longer. Even if we buy a new pan once a year, it is worth the perfect cooking method. Buy this grill or buy one with TRU infred for the juiciest best grilled meat you ever had.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CasualSurveyor Wonderful even heat makes cooking easier, leaves meat jucier
This infra-red cooking concept from Char-Broil is outstanding. Between the food and the gas burners sits a cast iron pan. The pan is heated by the direct flames, and then radiates infra-red heat energy to the food. This provides a much more even heat across the entire cooking surface while preventing flare ups. The pan also acts to catch drippings, which should keep the grill cleaner and prevent early rust-out of the gas tubes and manifolds. The other function of the pan is to create tasty aromas as the dripping juices instantly sizzle and smoke. Out first several meals (steak, hamburger, sausages) have been absolutely mouth-watering.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cjqix Great grill, better than expected
There were none left when we went to purchase so we bought the floor model which was fine as we didn't have to assemble it. This grill has a curved metal shield which converts the flame to radiant heat which cooks without direct flame. What we have cooked so far (steaks, burgers, veggie kabobs) have never been juicer, and no flame burns! a huge plus.
I looked into it, and if you want there are grates right there in the grill parts aisle that you can put in place of the heat shield and use it like a conventional grill but after using the grill I no longer see any need to do that unless you are a die-hard flame fan.
One of the main reasons for buying this grill is its smaller size, which fit our patio.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by af38710 Check Quality on Free Assembly
Unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure of using my new grill yet so I cannot comment on the quality of the product at this time. The subject of this review is the free assembly, or at least partial assembly. Only after I drove it home and unloaded it did I realize the 2 vanity panels on either side of the burner control panel were only being held on by 1 screw (total of 6 screws missing). After further inspection, I found scratches on the interior of the grill area due to the warming rack being improperly installed as well as the ignition module just dangling underneath. I am overall very disappointed with this free service not only because it is now going to require much more of my time to resolve, but because it is evident there is no supervision or quality check during or after assembly. So for those wishing to take advantage of this free service for any item, I would recommend a full inspection prior to taking the product home.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mageon stainless steel infrared emitter will rust
This is the 3rd year owning this grill. It cooks great, BUT plan on spending about $60 a year on replacing the stainless steel infrared emitter. This is with seasoning the stainless steel infrared emitter before use.
Expect is to rust even faster if you don't season it and clean it after every use. The emitter will rust completely through and fall apart,

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MJG1 This grill is simply AWESOME!
The Charbroil Tru Infrared grill is simply outstanding. All meats cook evenly and come off the grill very tender and juicy. With the Tru Infrared feature there are NEVER any flare ups. Additionally, this propane grill does an amazing job doubling as a smoker. Simply add wood chips (no need to soak them) and salmon, chicken etc come out perfectly smoked. I grill 2-3 times a week and this is my second tru infrared grill. My first lasted about 4.5 years w/o problems which is why I chose the same grill to replace it. I do not hesitate to recommend the Charbroil Tru Infrared Grill to anyone!
