I've used this machine a couple times and once in about 4 inches of snow. It propels itself well and seems to move the snow a good distance. I am glad I chose the handle bar chute controls. It made re-positioning the chute on the fly easy and I needed to make those adjustments more than I thought I would.
Starts well manually has ample power.
My only complaint is that the scraper interferes with the paddle. It can't be adjusted any more and will either have to be trimmed or worn in. This contact causes a vibration.
I am happy so far with this purchase.

I used it for the first time yesterday 3/12/14 in Southern Michigan. The 8 - 13" had fallen on warm ground and it there was 1 to 2 inches of slush down near the concrete drive and sidewalk. My old blower would have failed to move this mess, but my new Cub churned right thru it, and slung the slush 10 feet without any plugging or loss of RPM due to lack of power. I can't imagine any blower working better because you can't get any better. Slush is awful to blow, but it was nothing for my Cub!!

Free delivery was great. I easily put it together in a freezing garage with 6" of snow to plow outside! Controls are easy to use and intuitive. Very easy pull to start. Haven't used electric start yet because it's so easy to pull. LOVE the safety the headlight provides so oncoming traffic can see me, besides making it easier to see where I'm going at end of driveway where garage lights don't quite reach.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by MrWizard Best Snow Blower I've Owned
This is the best snow blower I have ever owned. A couple of years ago, my old Toro finally died after 12 years of use. My wife works for the other big name hardware store, so I bought a replacement there since I get a discount. I purchased the biggest single-stage unit and paid roughly $450. Boy, was I disappointed! The snow chute clogged on light snow and on wet snow. The only time it worked well was when it was a deep powdery snow. The rest of the time I was spending more time unclogging the chute than blowing snow. Not the case on this Cub Cadet unit!
After just two years of using the other unit, I decided to buy the Cub Cadet. It's not cheap by any means, but its rated very highly by the consumer magazines, so I thought I'd give it a try. I have used it 4 or 5 times this winter, on all types of snow. No clogging at all! So far, I've used it on snow from 2" to 8". wet and dry. It is so much fun, I now do my neighbor's driveway and walks too, just for fun!
My only warning is to adjust the shave plate before using. The first time I used it, it was leaving a small strip of snow down the middle of the swath. I checked the owners manual and back on page 12 it talked about doing this. It said you may have to make this adjustment before using it, but there was no mention of it in the assembly instructions. It's a simple adjustment, and now it works perfectly.
I highly suggest this snow blower. Oh, and the light is pretty nice too!
