Answer:
Depends upon how much flex you get where you want to apply. This stuff dries similar to drywall, plaster, etc. If it's a vinyl floor, then no because it would probably either crack or loosen around the edges.

Answer:
It can be painted over after it dries. But no, it would not turn out well to mix paint with this and then use it.

Yes, I have used this in a few of our rooms and all rooms were different colors; however, I'd put some Kilz on it b/4 painting to prevent uneven sheen/flashing. If you don't then the area with the spackling will show through your paint--I know this from experience when I forgot to do it, lol. I believe this happens because the area with spackling absorbs the paint more than the rest of the wall which is covered with a thin piece of paper causing it to not absorb the paint the same way. Once the paper is broken, revealing the chalk, and you use spackling/plaster a barier is needed between it and the paint; I have always had good luck with the sealer/primer Kilz. Hope this helps. Does this clearly state on the label that this product is spackling putty and not joint or tape compound?

I've noticed that some folks may not know what spackling putty is, saying that this has no indication that it isn't to be used as joint compound or tape compound. I'm not confused about its use, but just wanted to make sure that I'm not hallucinating that this does indeed have clear labelling.

Answer:
DAP® DryDex® Spackling is labeled (recommended) for use in filling holes and cracks in surfaces such as drywall, plaster,
wood, brick and stone. It is not labeled or recommended for use as a joint finishing (taping/bedding) or skim coating compound.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product is not for outdoors, don't waste your time I used this product last summer, scraped and prepared my house wooden window sills and frames. By this spring, all the paint had peeled off leaving a white powdery substance. At first I was not sure it was the primer or the Dap spackling. I prepped the windows again using this product on the cracks etc yesterday. On purpose I left some out to dry in order to test how it would take moisture as rain was forecast the next day. It went to mush just like drywall compound. DO NOT USE THIS OUTSIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though the label states INTERIOR/EXTERIOR You will totally waste your time as it will need to be done again. It might work well inside, it is easy to sand, but that is it. July 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very thin product, you will need multiple coats The color change works like a charm, but as a spackle... it doesn't fill gaps, nail holes (even thumb tack size), screw holes of any kind--the product is extremely thin, like pink ketchup. Every single hole will dimple as it dries forcing multiple coats. Since it is only good for extremely fine cracks, I cannot recommend this product, use CrackSHOT instead. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by "AWESOME" We have used this product as a leveling agent prior to putting down vinyl, nail holes, it is the BEST spackle I have ever used! July 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by love it I used this to fill nail holes as well as a hole in my ceiling, this stuff is awesome. Goes on smoothly and adheres to the plaster tape. It saved me lots of time and money. If it doesn't work for you. you're probably doing it wrong! August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good stuff The fact that this changes from pink to white when it's a cool feature! I recently bought some of this while doing some work at one of my rental units and it worked very well. I liked the consistency of this product it made for easy application and removal of excess leaving me with minimal sanding to do after it dried. I used it on some nail holes in some baseboards I had put on with my 15 gauge finish nailer and it worked great, it filled the holes very well and scraping off the excess from around the holes was very easy, I also used it on some larger holes and dents in the walls along with some corner repairs on the walls and it performed excellent in those areas as well, with very little shrinkage and it was easy to sand. overall I would recommend this product to anyone looking to fill anything from small to fairly large holes. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best in category for DIY Applies smoothly, dries fast and indicates by change in color when it can be painted. Also sands nicely. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Smooth sailing This is super easy to use and the color change helps you know when it's dry. It's not perfect as I had to use two coats to patch up a hole in my wall, but I was happy with the product. August 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Crud in a tub Dries to the consistency of cake icing, about the most useless product I have ever bought from the Despot. July 11, 2016
