Answer:
Depends upon how much flex you get where you want to apply. This stuff dries similar to drywall, plaster, etc. If it's a vinyl floor, then no because it would probably either crack or loosen around the edges.

Answer:
It can be painted over after it dries. But no, it would not turn out well to mix paint with this and then use it.

Yes, I have used this in a few of our rooms and all rooms were different colors; however, I'd put some Kilz on it b/4 painting to prevent uneven sheen/flashing. If you don't then the area with the spackling will show through your paint--I know this from experience when I forgot to do it, lol. I believe this happens because the area with spackling absorbs the paint more than the rest of the wall which is covered with a thin piece of paper causing it to not absorb the paint the same way. Once the paper is broken, revealing the chalk, and you use spackling/plaster a barier is needed between it and the paint; I have always had good luck with the sealer/primer Kilz. Hope this helps. Does this clearly state on the label that this product is spackling putty and not joint or tape compound?

I've noticed that some folks may not know what spackling putty is, saying that this has no indication that it isn't to be used as joint compound or tape compound. I'm not confused about its use, but just wanted to make sure that I'm not hallucinating that this does indeed have clear labelling.

Answer:
DAP® DryDex® Spackling is labeled (recommended) for use in filling holes and cracks in surfaces such as drywall, plaster,
wood, brick and stone. It is not labeled or recommended for use as a joint finishing (taping/bedding) or skim coating compound.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Crud in a tub Dries to the consistency of cake icing, about the most useless product I have ever bought from the Despot. July 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Years later, still worked I had a 32 ounce tub of this for (probably) a full decade. It only recently dried up with about 8 oz left) when someone (not blaming anybody who didn't pay attention) closed it with some spillage on the rim of the lid, not allowing it to fully close. Until that happened, I'd use this three or four times a year. Only once did I feel like I needed to mist it with water and that was on a dry day and I had it open for a long time. Very happy with this stuff! June 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by would not buy this product again. diy guy, this product will not come out of the tube easily. bought at different stores suspecting bad batch but all tubes were the same. too hard to squeeze out. May 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NOT THAT GREAT I bought this to finish a closet. I thought it was too thick. The website says it is for patching not taping. It changes color like it is supposed to, but otherwise IMO it is not really useful. No where on the container is the fact that this is only for patching shown. Then I got a container of the other type they have on the shelf next to it, and it too was very thick, perhaps grainy. I suspect that theor inventory is really old or it was allowed to freeze. I'll try Lowes January 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by maint.. man this patch Is awesome nothing but th e best.. you can use it on any surface.. great stuff July 26, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Do not use if you have dogs!! Had some settling cracks and this worked good till our dog ate it all off... Then we did it again and it dried completely and we paints it only for the dog to eat a hole in the wall a couple days later.... Our dog is NOT destructive the least bit.... But this stuff must taste and smell amazing... So we went from some little cracks to a big hole... February 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! Love the color change, to know it's dry and ready to sand. Very easy to use! June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works good! I really do love this stuff....I love that it has the pink when you put it on, then as it dries, it turns white...to let me know i can either apply a 2nd coat (if its a deeper hole) or i can start sanding and painting. I used this stuff after i took off hideous tile that was in the kitchen, in the house we just bought. Well..along with the tile, some of the drywall came out as well! This worked like a charm in patching the hole :) April 1, 2010
