Answer:
Depends upon how much flex you get where you want to apply. This stuff dries similar to drywall, plaster, etc. If it's a vinyl floor, then no because it would probably either crack or loosen around the edges.

Answer:
It can be painted over after it dries. But no, it would not turn out well to mix paint with this and then use it.

Yes, I have used this in a few of our rooms and all rooms were different colors; however, I'd put some Kilz on it b/4 painting to prevent uneven sheen/flashing. If you don't then the area with the spackling will show through your paint--I know this from experience when I forgot to do it, lol. I believe this happens because the area with spackling absorbs the paint more than the rest of the wall which is covered with a thin piece of paper causing it to not absorb the paint the same way. Once the paper is broken, revealing the chalk, and you use spackling/plaster a barier is needed between it and the paint; I have always had good luck with the sealer/primer Kilz. Hope this helps. 1 pt. DryDex Spackling with Dry Time Indicator is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was fantastic! I used this product for several uses. In the bathroom to repair where a towel bar was ripped out by my four year old, a hole where a door was opened too hard and the handle went through the wall, and screw holes from shelves that were removed. This product worked great for all of the purposes. I used a metal infused mesh for the larger holes and this product went on smoothly and evenly. It was definitely thick enough for the purpose, not at all runny. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is because I could not understand by the packaging if I could paint directly on it after I applied or if I had to use primer first. After sanding and wiping down, it still has a powder grit finish so I primed it first and it worked like a charm. Also, it goes on smooth and I have a orange peel wall. I took the curved edge of a paperclip and carved orange peel markings in the product after it dried and it matched the wall completely after paint. Very pleased with the results!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Excited to try, disappointed to use Excited to try this product. Applied and waited for pink to change to white. Cool to see that. Then waited two more days before painting. When painting over the patches, they began peeling off. Very disappointed by the results. Went to hardware store to complain. They said I should have used a primer before painting, yet nowhere on the product instructions does it recommend using primer first. Messed up my paint job. Not looking forward to spending another weekend re-doing what I just did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great This was recommended by a friend to fill nail holes in my new baseboard. It worked great for that. I have always used DAP products in the past and have always had great results. This time I used it on a new buffet cabinet I was building. Used to it fill nail holes from attaching the face frame and to fill a small gap from trimming out the top. I used it on solid hard maple. Dried super quick, sanded down no problem. I primed and painted the entire cabinet and it turned out great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very thin product, you will need multiple coats The color change works like a charm, but as a spackle... it doesn't fill gaps, nail holes (even thumb tack size), screw holes of any kind--the product is extremely thin, like pink ketchup. Every single hole will dimple as it dries forcing multiple coats. Since it is only good for extremely fine cracks, I cannot recommend this product, use CrackSHOT instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff The fact that this changes from pink to white when it's a cool feature! I recently bought some of this while doing some work at one of my rental units and it worked very well. I liked the consistency of this product it made for easy application and removal of excess leaving me with minimal sanding to do after it dried. I used it on some nail holes in some baseboards I had put on with my 15 gauge finish nailer and it worked great, it filled the holes very well and scraping off the excess from around the holes was very easy, I also used it on some larger holes and dents in the walls along with some corner repairs on the walls and it performed excellent in those areas as well, with very little shrinkage and it was easy to sand. overall I would recommend this product to anyone looking to fill anything from small to fairly large holes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't tell if it works, due to not able to squeeze the tube Bought a tube of DryDex Spackling and nail hole filler, based on a recommendation. Not sure if the tube was too old or expired, but I could not squeeze the product out with all the force of my hand. Even wrung the tube like a wet rag and could only extract a drop at a time, which was not my intended use. Even cut the nozzle to 3/4 of the way down (pencil size hole in the nozzle), and the result was the same. I am very disappointed..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great This spackle is great. I've been repainting a 5 bedroom house and a 32 oz tub of this stuff is plenty for this house. I've used it on bigger holes and patches, up to an inch, and it works great in layers. I love it so much. I wish it said if you could paint directly on it or if it needs primer. I've been priming it so far but I think I'm going to experiment with not priming it and see what happens.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I've used DAP Spackle products before without a problem. I applied this to quite a few areas on previously painted (latex) drywall and there was a 3 day dry time before I painted (latex). The paint would not stick to any of the areas with the spackle and literally peeled off as a rolled paint over it. I ended up having to use a putty knife to scrape off the paint and spackle. This was a complete waste of my time. Now I need to go and purchase a different brand and redo the work.
