I have broken more fingernails (at $25 a manicure) trying to open the spackle container. Is there any way your team of highly educated packaging engineers could come up with an easier way to open the container?
Asked by: trdryspackler
A small flathead screwdriver or coin can be used to assist with the removal of the lids from these packages.

can this be used on vinyl plastic?

Asked by: telcom
Depends upon how much flex you get where you want to apply. This stuff dries similar to drywall, plaster, etc. If it's a vinyl floor, then no because it would probably either crack or loosen around the edges.

Can i add paint to this the same color as my walls?

Asked by: ash
It can be painted over after it dries. But no, it would not turn out well to mix paint with this and then use it.

I have used dex to finish my fire place. I need to trim and repaint. I have to admit the project wasn't finished and a lot of living happened in the mean time I am currently stripping out carpet painting and doing a whole remodel I will gladly submit the finished project.

Worst product (spackle) I've ever used I've redone the same spot 4 times and 4 times the paint peeled and cracked. Been using different Dap products for 40 years. Due to this experience I'm done with Dap products. If you like to repeatedly get frustrated use this product. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from There is better Best to avoid this product. When dry, it will not hold together. Wet it with a little paint and it will dissolve again into mud. Paint it a second time and the paint will bubble and peel. There is nothing that can't be made a little worse and a little cheaper.

The DryDex spackle is a very good product and fulfills your need for filling unsightly voids in a wall. As an added plus, it goes on pink, but turn white when dry. Very useful if you are in a hurry to paint a surface.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from causes paint to peel. I used this to fill a number of small holes in my wall. You can tell exactly where the spackle is because that's where the new layer of paint is cracking. I even waited a day for it to dry. This stuff is junk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works good! I really do love this stuff....I love that it has the pink when you put it on, then as it dries, it turns white...to let me know i can either apply a 2nd coat (if its a deeper hole) or i can start sanding and painting. I used this stuff after i took off hideous tile that was in the kitchen, in the house we just bought. Well..along with the tile, some of the drywall came out as well! This worked like a charm in patching the hole :)
