It sets up pretty quick, say 20 minutes. That said, don't use it. It's terrible.

32 oz. Natural Plastic Wood Latex Wood Filler is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product This stuff saggs on a vertical application, doesnt cure well but dies out instead which means cracking, isnt stainable, isnt the color of wood, isnt usable outdoors, isnt usable in a humid room, reacts baddly to oil based paint, does not adhear to the wood and falls out once it's dried, doesnt seal when you try to close the package, dries a very obvious color, smears the color into adjacent grain when sanded, doesnt sand well because its softer than anything but balsa wood and is a waste of money. The lobotimite who signed off on this product as a good enough idea for production is not a wood worker. The lobotmite would realize the product is aweful if it were a wood worker and it would say, "this is terrible, we should try again" a thousand times before settling on this failure.

It dries hard as plastic, and only as strong as plastic. That's what I was looking for in a filler this time. The knob on a thin wood cabinet door had been torn off, leaving a ragged hole in the cabinet, and the need to put the knob back on for use. I filled the whole area with this stuff. (Once I stirred it up, it was the same consistency as all fillers), punching a hole through it with a nail for my knob screw to go back through. Left it to dry for a few days, then sanded it flat, then repainted it to match the cabinet. Then I put a small thin piece of wood behind where the knob went to secure the knob. Had my hole in the cabinet (where I had put the nail through this putty), then drilled a hole in the small piece of wood. Put the knob back on, the whole thing is now good as new!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Stainable HD no longer carries elmer's stainable wood filler which I loved. This product is terrible and a total waste of money. I used it to fill pocket holes on a table project. After being stained it looks like I rubbed spackle on the holes and then tried to stain it. The holes you fill in with wood filler never look quite right but this looked AWFUL.

It was caved in and cracked and I wanted to try to repair rather than replace the door. This stuff goes on just like spackling paste. I didn't need to reinforce the damage with anything. I just slapped on a big scoop of the stuff, smoothed it out and waited. After applying, I waited till the next day to sand. It dries super hard, a bit harder than spackling paste. It's not spongy like other wood fillers that I've tried. After sanding, I waited another day to paint. It held on to paint very well(oil based paint/primer all in one). I'm definitely happy with the results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is NOT your typical wood filler This product is more like loose putty that dries hard rather than typical plastic wood (wood particles & glue). In fact, I doubt if there is any actual wood in it. If you plan to stain your work, THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT TAKE A STAIN. If you read the fine print on the package, the product is paintable and stainable *with a solid color stain* (basically, paint). The package declares "Stainable" in large print on the lid, without mentioning the solid color warning part. Very misleading. It also says "Looks and acts like real wood" (again, in large print). Hogwash. The product shoud more accurately be labeled "Wood Filler Putty". Home Depot: bring back Elmer's ProBond wood filler.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should have read reviews - runny and doesn't stain the same as wood Consistency of wood glue like noted otherwise. This is not what I needed. I had to mix it with saw dust to make it usable to fill more significant gaps. It dried quickly and sanded very easily. Using 2 different transparent stains (MinWax and Behr semi transparent), this does not have an end result the same as the wood. Filled spots are obvious color difference. If using for small filling needs on a horizontal surface and using a solid stain / paint -- perfect. Else, pass... Also annoying, the lid after opened does not seal well even when cleaned up.
