Customer Questions & Answers

Would it patch some chipped paint of wall?

I'm not using it for wholes, I used sticky double sided mounting tape, and when I tried to pull it off, it came off with the paint? Will I stick this on, put on the shakle than paint it?
Asked by: Anonymous
If there's not an actual hole in the wall, I would probably just use a light-weight spackling compound, then 100-grit sandpaper to smooth out the wall before repainting.

I removed an existing interior door to open up the space b/w rooms. Will this repair the door hinge cutouts?

For more involved wood repair projects, we would recommend the use of a more durable and specialized wood repair filler such as DAP Plastic Wood Latex All-Purpose Wood Filler.

Does this stand a rat/rodents cutting?

I have a medium size hole and I see that the blob that was inserted to close this hole, did not help. Rats had chewed the Coax Cables going into this hole and now, I have fixed the cables but like to make sure, no rats can chew into this hole and chew the cable again - Wondering if this can sustain the rat chewing.Do not ask me why the rats want to chew into the hole and then eat the coax cable while its floating outside. I have no clue :(
Asked by: Taza
Stuff the hole with steel wool before spackling over it. It will hurt the rodent's gums and deter further chewing. Quad shielded coax cable shielding makes excellent nesting material.

Customer Reviews

8 oz. DryDex Wall Repair Patch Kit is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product If Properly Applied I rarely write reviews; however, when I saw that the only review bad-mouthed the product I thought it only fair to provide some balance. Yes, it's true the patch "as-is" is thick. However, if after applying it to the wall you properly sand it down to be flush with the wall, the resulting repair looks great. Not being much of a DIY guy, I put the patch on, sanded it lightly and then painted the area. It looked bad and my first thought was, "I should have listened to the reviewer who said the patch was too thick". Then my wife took a look and said "You really need to sand that down more." (Like I said, I'm not the guy you would hire to do your household repairs.) Trying to keep on the good side with my wife, I got out the sandpaper and sanded down the patch until it was virtually flush with the wall. Gave it a couple coats of paint and it looked great! Attached is a picture of the repaired wall. You be the judge. [To give you a clue the patched hole was from our prior thermometer just above our new thermometer.] I hope this is helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So you put a doorknob through a wall? This patch kit is the perfect one-off for put a doorknob through a wall (I guess it would work for fists...) Make sure you cut the patch tot he right size and that the edges either bend in towards the wall or are flush (if they bend out you'll need to use a lot of spackle). It works perfectly as advertised and comes with way more spackle than you'll need for the single patch. Oh, and if it was a doorknob, Home Depot also sells some great clear Cushion Door Stops to prevent it from happening again.
