The sander is my little workhorse. Super easy to use. Changing sanding discs required little effort. The hook and loop discs stayed in place. Was worried about grip because I have small hands but was pleasantly surprised. I was able to find a comfortable grip and had no fatigue after a few long days of sanding. Cord length is good and dumping dust bag is simple. Very good control.
Most importantly, the minimal swirl marks were gone with the next grit. After final sanding I spent less than two minutes on a once-over hand sand (and may not have been necessary!).
A quality sander for a great price.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scooter I am very, very pleased with this sander
I make custom wood plaques and was sick of my old B&D sander because the dust bag fell off if you looked at it funny. Since I recently installed a DIY dust collection system in my shop I chose this model for the dust port as well as the good reviews. It also uses the same sanding discs I already have gobs of.
It is GREAT.
For starters, it vibrates a whole lot less than my old B&D. It's also a bit quieter.
I have yet to hook it up to my dust collection system because the dust bag works great. After about an hour of sanding oak it had plenty of room left for more dust.
Speaking of the bag, another reviewer said the bag falls off easily. Perhaps things have changed since they reviewed their because the one I bought 12/2015 has a bag with a fitting on it that you push on the dust port then twist and lock it. It hasn't come off a single time.
Also, when powered off it stops a LOT faster than my old B&D. That may not seem like a benefit to many but when I'm switching from tool to tool during sanding/finishing I apprecaite all the extra time i can get.
My only complaint is the power switch, which has a rubber cover to keep dust out, could be a little bigger. Sometimes I find myself fiddling with it to push on the correct side but it's not really a big deal at all.

Very difficult to control. Motor is powerful and heavy. Changing sanding discs is a breeze

oh man. Where was I before this sander? Full of rough furniture and wood and unfinished business is where. This sucker is so easy to hold onto and easy to use that after doing your initial project that you probably bought this for you'll start wandering around what else you can re-finish - so far my stairs, 2 chairs, a shelf and a bench for me. What's on your list?

An amazing sander, minimal noise and vibration. very ergonomic grip. Had a Ryobi that didn't cut it, I after feeling the Dewalt sander in the store I knew I had to have it. The main thing this sander has over other sanders is how comfortable it is in the hand. Also it is 3 amps versus 2 which most cheaper sanders have it will last longer and take more abuse. I will recommend this to all my friends.

I'm very happy with my purchase! This is just what I needed for stripping the furniture I refinish. It's a little on the heavy side and hurts my wrists and hands after a bit, but I'm still not complaining.

I purchased this sander based on need and other write-ups.
I am building toys and "cubbies" for daycares and I needed a sander that would cut the amount of sanding time in half or less. My DeWalt finish sander was great for small area projects, but I needed something to cover alot of ground and without leaving scratches or patterns from sanding. I just finished a Doll House that had been discarded because of paint and magic markers colors all over the place. I disassembled the house and used the 5" DeWalt Random Orbital sander to finish each piece. I was amazed at how fast the paint and markers came off the wood. The wood is maple and ash and it cleaned up very nicely as you can see in the enclosed pictures. I did use the finish sander to get into the square corners but everything else was random orbital. There are many grits of sanding disks available so moving from rought to finish was very easy with the hook and eye system to hold the paper on the disk. You have to be careful because all brands with holes do not line up on the disk holes for the dust collection. It is enough power but not to much for the jobs I do. I think this is a perfect sander for a DIY'er.
