Customer Questions & Answers

I can't figure out how to fold the knife. Is there some latch or button to press? Thanks!

Asked by: JBC777
There is a piece of metal that pops up to lock the blade in place once you extend the arm. Press that metal down and fold the knife to close.

Hate to write a bad review, but I had high expectations for this utility knife since it is made by my favorite tool brand - DeWalt. Well, I was highly disappointed in just a few minutes of using the knife. The slide out feature kept jamming every time I pushed the blade out. Turns out it was the fancy auto-load feature that kept grabbing a second blade and getting wedged in the knife slide. Another downside, the blades are stored internally via a flimsy plastic storage/reloading function. No bueno if you tend to drop your tools a few times during use. However, I did buy another more affordable DeWalt folding retractable utility knife (#DWHT10035L) and it has worked like a CHAMP! Love that thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from hi hopes low results Had high hopes since manufactured from a high name developer. Within hours the screw that holds the blade house got loose and fell out. So that turned the knive to garbage. Everytime i tried to cut something and applied pressure to it the blade would pull out. Threw it away and got myself a milwaukee folding knive insted way better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good quality knife I am very pleased with this knife it is easy to change the blades and it folds up so you can hang it on your belt. The ribs on the side help you to maintain a grip if you are cutting into to hard to cut material. You can store 3 blades right in the knife itself. You can always count on Dewalt to come up with a quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice knife where space is limited Sturdy knife that folds to a compact size. When opened the cutting it's tad unbalanced (cutting end is on the heavy side). The knife takes two hands to open and close. The casting holds a couple of spare blades, this contributes to the imbalance. Quality tool but not one of the how-did-I-ever-live-without-it tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Little Knife! This is a nice little functional utility knife. It's very sharp, blades are replaceable, and it folds so that it can be put in a pocket. My last knife was dangerous, and the blades became rusty really fast. Glad I made this purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would have expected more from DeWalt While I like that this knife quickly and easily exchanges new blades and locks open when in use the size of this knife when folded in half is quite large and doesnt want to stay in the shut position. This knife has a clip to keep in or out of your pocket but when in your pocket it takes up a great deal of space and when clipped outside of your pocket it falls to the open position. Dont waste your money buy one of the Milwakee tool knives for the same price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the old one and this upgrade Ok, I purchased the non-autoload version a number of years ago based on a review on some sort of tool junkie site. I use it constantly, it folds nicely and fits in that odd right side jean mini pocket. it works well and always has an extra blade. I had a problem switching blades at first, but sat with it for a few minutes and found that I just wast pressing the button hard enough. I misplaced it for a few days and upgraded to the auto load version which seemed to remove the "seldom used by me" wire stripper feature for an auto load feature and made with a different combination of molded and stamped steel. I love the auto load, but kinda miss the compactness of my old faithful, but the auto load allows for three in storage and one in the chamber, the release is much easier, and still supports multiple retraction positions which I use a lot to open boxes without damaging the contents. I found my old one, now I'm conflicted as to which to carry, but the autoload wins out for me, so I am going to drop a 5 for it with this same review.
