Customer Questions & Answers

What are the power requirements for the camera? Herb

Asked by: Herb
You have to run electricity to the position where you wish to mount the camera. We have extension cords in the attic running to it and it works perfectly. Of course, depending upon you r house and attic situation, you might need to install an outlet in your attic first in order to do this. In our house, I installed an outlet in the middle of the attic which I use with the extension cord to power this camera.

Are the power required adaptors needed (9V DC 600mA) as specified for both the monitor and camera(s) included?

Asked by: Ronald
The necessary adapters are included in this kit. It is ready to go out of the box-all you need is electricity at the point where you wish to install the camera.

Can the camera be hardwired into power supply?

Can the camera be hardwired into power supply?
Asked by: IFONLY
According to our Service Dept at Moonlite Maintenance of Prescott, AZ, the camera comes with a pig-tailed power cord wired to a plug-in transformer. Therefore the only practical configuration to supply power to the camera is to install a 120V outlet overhead where the device is to be positioned. BTW: This is a nice unit with great features.

PHOENIXM2 Digital Wireless 7 in. Monitor DVR Security System with Night Vision Camera and SD Card Recording is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 252.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! I bought this so I could have a view of the front door from the bedroom. It is a fantastic system. Plug and play. It took 5 minutes to set up. I've had it a month now and zero problems. I set the motion sensor on low and place it in sleep mode. It records when there is motion then goes back to sleep mode. I do a quick review when I get up in the morning and when I get home from work then delete the recordings. Easy, easy...The night vision is great and the day picture is good. I highly recommend this system for a beginner who wants to keep any eye on their property.

This surveillance camera is very user friendly and comes programed to offer many options. The monitor has a good clear picture broadcastent by a sturdy well focused camera with night vision and a two-way speaker system. With the touch of a button the operator can program the motion detector to sound an alert when movement is detected or to sleep (no picture/sound) until someone comes to the door. Wireless system works flawlessly, a good buy for the money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good when working correctly. Works great when it works. Got it as xmas gift and was going to add second camera .Worked great for a few days. Now every couple days I have to unplug it and plug back in to get camera to record when motion is detected. Talked with support to try to troubleshoot. No luck. Probably just returning it to home Depot rather than wait the 2-3 weeks to have it checked out. To bad it is nice when it works. Not happy about the idea of being without it while defender looks it over.(2-3 weeks seems a little long) so just returning and looking for alternative. Bummed!

It combines passive infrared detection, two way audio, day and night video and digital recording of events. It is self contained requiring no computer connections or wifi. Installation consists of plugging each unit into house power. This is the second one I have purchased, unfortunately this one was defective but the manufacturer(CWD) was prompt and courteous in rectifying the situation.

For me just 1 item, the joy stick selection button is very touchy. Just need to be certain of what is highlighted. Works great. Will not take a picture at night through a window, otherwise fine unit. Really clear picture and sound. I recommend this or the same unit with two cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear and sharp video with a 2-Way Intercom! This camera system is a good value and includes what is needed to start monitoring your property immediately. Included is the camera, base, mounting hardware, pairing tool, 4GB microSD card, and 4 window warning stickers. The setup is easy if you are familiar with this type of system. There are no instructions included - you have to download them from the Defender-USA website. Because I have a similar type, I did not need instructions to get it set up. Setup is quick. Insert microSD card into adapter, then into the side slot on the monitor. There are 2 power supplies, each marked with the location of attachment. Attach 6' power cord to back of monitor. Attach 10' power cord to the 6' cord on the camera. Screw antenna into camera top. Screw camera onto the adjustable base. Power on (there are instructions if needed to pair the camera to the monitor, but mine was already paired when I plugged in it.) There are plenty of options and settings. (The round button on bottom right will bring up the recorded file list. It is also used as the selector - it toggles in four directions to make a selection, then push button to open selection.) MAIN MENU OPTIONS: RECORD: Duration, Schedule, File Overwrite option of loop or shut down when disk is full CAMERA: Pairing, Camera On/Off, Brightness, Resolution of VGA or QVGA SETTINGS: Date and Time, Default settings, Format Memory, Time Zone, Firmware Upgrade DETECT: Choose camera 1-4, Sensitivity High, Medium, Low, or Off ALERT: 6 Volume levels Features I liked: - Monitor has sturdy, built-in base and has 90 degree tilt. Can also be mounted on a wall. Screen is capable of 50/50 split-screen or quad-view - It supports 4 cameras - Picture is sharp and clear - The 2-way talk lets me speak to and hear someone near the camera outside - The SDmicro card can be upgraded to 128GB - The camera cord has connector disconnect for easily fishing the wire through a wall if needed What I did not like: - The toggle/joystick button for selecting is too small to manipulate the directional arrows easily. A touchscreen display would have been much easier and quicker - There is no battery in the monitor to enable you to take the monitor outside to help position the camera location. - There is no outlet for an ethernet or HDMI cable for viewing on a pc or tv - Signal sometimes goes "out of range" which loses the video even though I have the camera about 50' from the outside door - There is a delay of about 3 seconds in the video Although this camera system has some features that I miss, the video quality is great and it is well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Security System Was being terrorized by the neighborhood thugs, they kept trying to get into my home while my kids and I were sleeping, in the early am and so we started sleeping in shifts... They were aggressive and didn't care about the security system, they started trying to get in during the daylight hours also. So I purchased the defender surveillance system, and all attacks have ceased for now... I thought that I needed a pro to install it, but it was very simple, and easy. The picture is very clear, I love the intercom, and the night vision exceeds my expectations. I will be purchasing three additional cameras in the near future to complete my system!

Based on a few weeks worth of use, this is an excellent camera system for the price point. We have owned several systems with monitors in the past (Lorex and Uniden), and this one is outperforming all of them. The camera is well built and the field of vision is larger than our last system (a Lorex) so we can monitor more of the surrounding area. The picture both day and night is good for a system at this price point. The monitor is easily positioned for the best angle to reduce glare due to its flexible stand. We do lose signal on occasion, but never for a few seconds. We think this is due to the distance (we have it at the extreme corner of the house away from the monitor) and the fact our house is brick. It was easily set up out of the box-my husband had it up and running within an hour (of course, you need to already have the electricity run to where you wish to mount it, which we did). We have yet to record with it-if we have problems we will update this review to reflect any difficulties. We have another Defender system without monitor (but with DVR) and have never had a problem with it-should have gone with this Defender system sooner.
