Product Overview

Simplify your grout-extraction chores with this 1/16 in. Carbide Grout Removal Bit. When used in conjunction with the separately sold Dremel Grout Removal Attachment (model 568), it precisely pulverizes old grout behind the power of a rotary tool. When the grout bordering your wall or floor tile runs its course or becomes permanently soiled, let this heavy-duty carbide bit remove it with ease.

  • A high speed cutter with a 1/8 in. steel shank
  • Carbide-grit tip provides extra bite to blast through hardened grout
  • Ideal for removing grout to replace broken, marred or worn tiles
  • Not intended for use above 18,000 RPM
  • For ease of operation, use with Dremel grout removal attachment (model 568)
  • For best results, insert the accessory bit all the way into the tool and then back it out slightly before tightening down

What would I use to drill an 1/16" to 1/8" hole in fired ceramics and glass?

Asked by: C354s
You can use the 662DR glass drilling bit. It will only drill 1/8" holes. We also have the 664DR diamond drill flip bit. This will drill through 1/16" and 3/32".

The bit worked well to remove the grout but I would recommend this bit only for small jobs, spot repairs. This bit isn't built to withstand a regrouting of a shower or floor. The bit broke at the end of my repair which was about 15 linear feet of grout removal. I had taken breaks to make sure the bit was cool and tried to use it lightly to avoid it breaking. I am happy with the performance though and I was able to get the job done.

Time saver to the Nth degree -- apply pressure as needed to the grout line. Either clear it all out or just take off the first few layers. Didn't warp or overheat with constant use. Got a little noisy and dusty (fault of the dremmel), but much better than using a manual grout scraper.
