Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by frankinottawa DEAD AFTER 1 YEAR
Absolutely NO GOOD.
Died after perhaps 1.2 years of moderate to minimal use.(mostly minimal) The power cord has a short and only works when it wants to. It overheats after 5 minute use. It will not cut wood at all. Don't believe the hype or the name.
I am so disappointed.
I though that I bought Dremel quality. NOT!!!!. I will never buy again!
ps. Most people will leave a review after the first week...mine is after a year+....please be smart and read into this statement!

This oscillating tool was purchased last year, I rehab/flip homes and needed to remove the sub floor from a room, but needed to flush cut along a wall. This tool worked perfect. It now gets used daily in many different ways. Flush cutting nails, removing stripped screwed on hinges, grout removal, old thin set removal from back of tiles, cutting drywall. The house I am working on now had plastic outlet boxes that were extended past the drywall, I was able to flush cut the boxes without damage to wall.
Only con is price of blades, but they are made well and hold up through a lot of use.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MJPA Dremel is an outstanding choice and a hand full of muscle!
I reviewed the choices available at the store, and Dremel was a cut above in my opinion. I'm not a pro, just an amateur home DIYer. I tried removing some 40-year-old bathroom tiles, but was only able to remove small chips. This would have taken hours. This tool removed the tile in minutes and wasn't even breathing hard. The tool is a real workhorse, it never overheated, and the vibration was minimal. No hot gloves needed at all. Needless to say, those tiles were all glued down to the concrete pad. I haven't had an opportunity to use the other blades yet, but I'm looking forward to it! You're not going to find a better tool and accessories anywhere. Before I go, the ease of changing blades is awesome with the flip of a lever atop the Multi-Max and you're locked and ready to go! Try that with the other brands!

This tool did all I needed and more. I do wish I had gone with the Rockwell though, but only because that one doesn't limit you to their own blades (it accepts Dremel, Milwaukee, etc.) Other than that, this is a great tool! Had mine for 9 months now.
frankinottawa: Of course it's overheating! It has an intermittent short! Fix the cord and ALL the symptoms you described go away. Vibration can cause a solder joint (where the cord actually connects within the tool) to come loose. I doubt Dremel x-rays the solder joints. If they did, add $50 to the price of the tool. Gonna happen from time to time; not the end of the world.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JennDog Love my Dremel!
I received my MM40 by request for Christmas and have had it in use ever since. And I've spent a lot of timing thinking of how much easier my life would have been if I had it years ago. First, I need to cut a small piece of particle board as a support for some address tiles. It would have been the hacksaw if it wasn't for the MM40 plunge cut tool. So easy! Then I decided to build a pallet wall for my son's bedroom. This entails collecting and dismantling used pallets, sanding wood, cutting and trimming wood. The MM40 wasn't much help with collecting the pallets of course but it was in constant use for everything else. I think I need two of them now so that my son can help me! First, I see all these videos online describing how HARD it is to dismantle pallets! Not with an MM40! Slide on that wood/metal plunge blade and cut right through all those nails! Like butter! Then my son decided he wanted the wood sanded a bit instead of completely raw so swap in the sander and those boards are sanded in no time. I have to trim a few boards to fit them around a window so why pull out another saw when the wood plunge blade can cut through a 4" width blade in under a minute? My husband likes me to clean up my tools when I'm done with a project but it's entirely counter-productive to bother putting my MM40 away!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by girlsinconstruction I LOVE DREMEL MULTI-MAX
This tool is amazing. It will do so many tasks, you don't need so many other tools in your tool box. I have just purchased another one after using the first one I bought for 4 years. I cut through 2x4s, sheetrock, beadboard, tile, and on and on and on. This tool does it all. The attachments can be a little expensive. But not enough I wouldn't recommend this tool. I tell everybody about it. I love it!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Timothy Wow - what an improvement from my 1.5 Amp 6300
My old 6300 had 1.5 amps of power - the MM 30 has 2.5 - wow what an improvement !
Used the sanding tool to repair 3 cedar flower boxes, then the wood cutting tool to remove tree roots from my shrub beds. Additional power made both jobs a snap. I definitely recommend this product.
Home depot had this in inventory.
