I am 6' 2". The photo of the PRO ATTACHMENT SERIES appears to show an adjustable height shaft. Is there anyone as tall or taller than me who can report how it works for them to maintain a comfortable upright posture?

I am 5' 11'' and I found it easy to use. you've got to understand that no matter how long it might be you will need to adjust to the length in order to get a better grip and good production.
you can never see anyone of your height and it's a better product compared to all other brand names I've bought before

Keith; I'm 6'-0", 73 years old, 240 pounds. and the trimmer is as comfortable as a trimmer gets.
I don't have to lean over to use it. My son is 6'-2" and he also uses an Echo trimmer. I bought mine on his recommendation. It works very well. NO... The shaft is NOT adjustable for length.

He's used it on a small lawn for 7 years, and now after 7 years it needs some repairs. Compared to my Troybilt 4 cycle trimmer (piece of Junk that broke TWICE in one week after about 2 years use, (about 5 total times, total usage of 300 feet of trimming per use) its a real workhorse.
No matter whose trimmer you get, if It can use .095 LINE, try the Echo "8-sided" line (comes standard on this trimmer). It works better then anything I've used before, lasts longer between "feeds" also.

Does this model have the quick release where you bang it on floor a bit and string is then released? because right now I have to put my trimmer down push the head and pull the string every time. Is this what you have to do with this model or is mine just not working correctly?

Answer:
I've only used my trimmer twice, but so far (almost out of the original spool of line) it is working REALLY Well when it comes to feeding line. The 8-sided Echo line that comes with the trimmer is really great, works better then any other line I have ever used. And doesn't need to be fed, as often as other "round" lines, because it cuts so much better.

If the trimmer line will not feed on the Speed Feed trimmer head, please check the following; *The trimmer line may not be long enough. If the line is not fully extended it may get sucked back into the cutting head when reducing speed. *The trimmer line could be melted. This could be caused by cutting too closely to hard objects like concrete, or chain link fences with the middle of the line instead of using the tips of the line to cut. When cutting with the trimmer line too close to an object, or by not using the tips of the line, a lot of friction and heat is built up inside the trimmer head. This buildup of heat causes the line to melt. *The spool was installed upside down. The Speed Feed 400 cutting head offers the ability to use it on units that run clockwise and counter clockwise. If the head is installed on a SRM or a 58V trimmer then the letter "L" on the spool should be facing out. If the letter "R" is facing out then the spool should be flipped over and the head can be reassembled. Read Less

Answer:
All GT or curved shaft trimmers are not designed to use a metal cutting blade. If a metal blade is installed on this unit serious injury may occur to the operator.

Pro Attachment Series 2-Cycle 21.2cc 17 in. Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 124.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better Than Expected I actually bought this trimmer today and used it for the first time. I must say it did a great job. I also found it to be quieter than my old Troy-Bilt and with a lot less vibration. I did experience a small bit of trouble with the trimmer line. It broke off inside the head and I had a bit of a deal getting the head apart. However, once I got it apart the fix was simple and the head went back together without issue. and the SPEED FEED head worked marvelously. 30 seconds to restring and wind. In general I would say that this seems to be a good purchase. Should it keep performing as it did today andIf it lasts five years it was worth the money,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK so far Starts easily, gas fill is pretty easy. Plenty of power, even for ferns and tall weeds... rev it up and go. bump feed works OK. Reloading string is a bit tough... getting the canister open is a bit challenging to the thumbs. The instruction book has no info about which way to insert the string canister, if you have to remove it... that happens when the "already loaded" reel needs to be removed to re-thread the string through the proper hole. Pretty well balanced... even when using any optional strap assembly. Be careful to align the latch pin, if you remove and replace any of the various attachments, it may not "pop in" all by itself.... check that the pin is seated..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO MUCH POWER! Bought it on a Saturday and fired it up on Sunday. Took me a couple of tries to get her started but once she fired up SHE WAS ALIVE!!! What a major improvement over my previous Echo unit. With my last unit I'd have to cut strips of cord and manually put them in as I trim the yard. This new system is fantastic. Just a couple of taps as your going and voila! you got a fresh strip of trimming cord. Also, the unit is wonderfully balanced. When you hold it as designed it almost feels effortless. And the added bonus of using other attachments really drew me in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Will not accept non echo attachments I have One of the selling points was being able to use attachments. I have an edger, tiller and brush blade attachment I wanted to be able to keep using. NONE of them will fit this weed eater . The packaging clearly stated it would accept attachments from other manufactures. This is not true. If you have attachments not made by echo do not buy this product. My attachments are ryobi, craftsmen and John Deere. As a weed eater it has worked very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ECHO Keeps The Quality Going ECHO's quality is by far the best I've used.....EVER. I just purchased this model after my old professional model slowed down after 12 years of normal use and proper maintenance so I felt it was time for a new one. I can't not believe the quality has not changed over the years, in fact I think it's better. I also purchased the Pruner and Hedger attachments but have not used them yet, but I'll leave a review when I do. If there's any doubt, buy one and see for yourself. You have nothing to lose with a 5 year warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST trimmer I have ever owned I have owned the other "orange" trimmer for several years. The carb had to be changed out every year because it was hard to start, even with alcohol-free gas. This Echo unit starts so easily my wife can start it. There is so much power that the engine is run barely above idle to trim most grass. I love the balance of the unit. Now looking to change all my lawn equipment over to Echo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Echo is the best! I got tired of hard to start weed eaters. I've had a echo backpack blower for 18 years and have never had a problem with it starting. I decided enough is enough and bought an echo weedeater. It has absolutely impressed me of how easy it starts how quiet it is and how powerful it is. I can't believe I waited this long to buy one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful This is one of the entry level commercial duty trimmers, it is powerful and makes short work of any trimming that needs to be done, but it is also very heavy and has a small safety shield and it kicks back the cut grass to the rear, so be prepared to be covered in the grass that you are trimming.
