Customer Questions & Answers

Can it be used without the grass catcher?

Asked by: Dale
Yes, it has a mulching plug/insert but it doesn't mulch well at all and it clumps clippings to the left side of the mower leaving a clumpy trail. It doesn't like thick grass.

I just received my lawn mower. It mentions wearing protective glasses and a face shield. Is the face shield necessary?

Asked by: Kath
Many suns ago, I rode big mowers for the county parks department. OSHA ruled then and I was made to wear safety glasses or goggles. Turns out I didn't want to work without them anyway - "my fellow Americans" can be a rather messy inconsiderate lot. To the jerk that wrote about needing Mommy to walk with you holding your hand, while I was with the parks department, I could lift big oil drums full of trash onto a trailer all by my lonesome - no Mommy with me, the parks commission didn't want to pay her anyway. So, from a former "professional", wear those safety glasses or shields. Even with insurance, you pay maybe $500 / eye for surgery to restore them to reasonable function. But as noted elsewhere, your choice, your face, your eyes, OSHA won't come around to your garage making sure you follow their rules.

Does the Battery ship with the mower or seperately?

I received the mower, with no battery or charger and was told it ships separately?
Asked by: Tke80494
Our battery and charger came in the same box as the mower. Directly off the shelf from our Home Depot.

Is it good to have a 2nd battery as backup and how much does the battery cost? I've read lots of reviews on this mower and it seems that lots of people have difficulty with short life of the battery.

I got the weed eater and it comes with a battery too. Comes in handy, although I have not gone through a cull change mowing yet

21 in. 56-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Battery Self Propelled Mower with 7.5Ah Battery and Charger Included is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 2291.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from As good, and powerful, as any gas mower I've used I love this mower. The ONLY reason I give it 4 stars is removal of the battery. It is a huge issue for me to get the battery out of the charger. The battery is heavy, and my hands are very small, so it is difficult for me to get the battery out of the charger. I cannot grip this battery with both hands. This mower does an excellent job cutting the grass. I have one 1/3 of an acre, and because I use the self propelled feature, the battery does not last for the entire yard. Usually, I cut the front yard first, then recharge and cut the backyard. The battery charge time is a little long, but no problem. The self propelled feature is fabulous!

Okay!.........I'm a woman almost 85 years old and fed up with expensive landscapers. I just purchased a 21 " Ego self propelled lawn mower and yesterday tried it out. I love it!........I am able to follow along behind as it cleanly cuts my wet grass. If it continues in the same fashion it will be a blessing to my 'old age' and a treasured item...........The ease of starting, quickness of response, power, and speed........all are wonderful. ....No gas and oil........no pulling of starting ropes! It is: independence! Hallelujah!!!!

It made easy work of a quarter acre garden making this routine weekly task effortless. Battery Power is no problem........even with thick grass or slopes in the way. It is more than adequate with a 1 hour charge on tap. It is also so quiet you can barely hear it when used. Cleaning & putting away the Movwer is a slam dunk with little to no space taken-up in the tight & valuable garage real estate. Again, a "sweet" machine that worth a deeper look at if not an outright purchase most folks will be truly satisfied with! Rgds,

After 24 years of great service from my Honda, it was time to retire that old mower. I was going to buy a new Honda mower, and when I was at Home Depot, I saw the EGO mower. I have always been suspect of electric mowers not having enough torque or battery life. So I pulled out my phone, read some of the reviews here and watch a couple of YouTube videos. In addition, a friend of mine just bought one and she had rave reviews. I bought one, still suspect of it's capabilities. Well, I just mowed my lawn (1/4 acre) for the first time this year and I am very pleased with my EGO lawn mower. As typical of first mowing of the season, there were some slow growth and fast growth patches. Like I did with my old Honda, I just slowed down a bit going through the fast growth patches. The EGO seems to sense this and has something like a "second gear" that provides more power when needed. After mowing, I put the battery back on the charger, and it had more than 25% still remaining. It's light, quiet, and no more dealing with gas and oil. The one handle deck height adjustment is a nice feature. I also bought an EGO string trimmer, and I am just as pleased with that product.

If you were like me, you may be weighing if the extra initial investment is worth it. My initial answer after purchase is YES. I ordered online and Home Depot had it waiting for me. The mower is super easy to setup, it's basically ready out of the box. The mower, charger, and battery all feel well built. The battery does come with a charge, but I went ahead and charged it up and I was ready to go! Some of my favorite features: 1. SUPER QUIET - I listen to headphones while I mow and was able to do so at a normal volume. I found myself taking out an ear bud to make sure the mower was running! (Even though there is a light to indicate it is) 2. For the most part I mulch and found this mower on par with gas mowers. It does also include a bag and a chute for side discharge. 3. Easy to adjust the height - Like super easy. No more adjusting each wheel. One lever and you are done. 4. Nice Self-Propel - The fast setting is FAST! I found myself using it on the lowest setting and thought that was sufficient, anything past half way and I couldn't imagine going that fast. It is super easy to adjust on the fly. 5. Push button start - No more having to be concerned about stopping the mower to talk to a neighbor or move a branch or stone. It starts right up with the push of a button. 6. Compact storage - Takes all of 5 seconds to go from used to stored vertically. 5. I found someone that calculated it cost 2.3 cents per charge! So, yes, you can get cheaper lawner but I think over time with lower maintenance costs the actual price difference is minimal. Anything else, can be justified with the great features this thing brings with it. So if you are on the fence...DO IT! :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far, So Good I've only used the new mower twice but have had a good experience so far. It propells a bit slower than i would like, but it does go fast enough. I imagine the slower speed may be a good thing during the summer when the grass is higher. I like having a clean, quiet mower. No messy oil or gas and no fumes. It is light enough to carry into my shed and folds up neatly to fit against the wall. One charge is more than enough to do my entire yard... I was even able to go over the back yard again when i decided to make it shorter because it is a different type of grass. I highly recommend this mower. It's expensive, but worth the cost.

Based on how light and quiet it is, you'll be amazed at how well it cuts. And the battery lasts. I mowed the lawn once and for the second time I put the battery on the charger and it said it was still at 100%. Small lawn yes but that's what these are especially good for. The self-propullsion is better than the one on my old gas mower. It is independent of the blade operation. One small nit is that the battery cover doesn't stay open when you lift it to put battery in. You have to hold it with one hand. Some may want/need to handle the battery with two hands.

I have a half acre lot and i was able to mow the entire yard without recharging, i have had it for two weeks now and mowed the yard twice. The yard is very steep in places with plenty of obstacles, this mower kept up with my gas mower of the same price. Easy start, easy use, much lighter in weight than my gas mower. Cut is beautiful, and is so quite i can have a normal conversation while mowing the grass. A very nice feature is being able to use the self propelled drive without having the blade running. I highly recommend this mower and am in the process of replacing all of my gas powered yard equipment with the EGO brand. Say good bye to gas, oil and gas oil mixtures. I have been using battery power woodworking tools for many years, finally the lawn equipment industry has caught up.
