Have a large area to protect, this seems like a possible use, lay it down, cover with 10-12 inches of soil, hope for the best... can't find metal 3/4 inch poultry wire at HD

I find it curious that people take a "live and let live" position and waste money when dealing with varmints. Chew some gum, wrap it in peanut butter, set it on wax paper until it dries and then drop it into their tunnels. They can't digest it. Problem solved.

Answer:
I use hardware cloth to keep out moles and ground squirrels. We don't have gophers here, but I think hardware cloth would still be a better bet than plastic netting.

We just adopted a dog and there is over growth in our backyard that we are planning to fix within the next month or so. Would this be ok to put up for a temporary fence so that he does not go back into the brush where we cannot see him?

Never would I trust this fence for containing a dog, not even a dinky dog...my 7lb girl would just put her mouth on it...make a hole and gone she would be. She has proven her ability by going through two baby gates...a wire one stopped her fun.
I prefer 2 x4 welded wire fence for dogs.
After over sixty years of dogs and many years in dog rescue, I have seen much. Safe is always better than sorry.

Howdy tiffdh,
This mesh could work for you as long as your dog isn't a wild jumper and you use some upright reinforcements such as 2x4's or large landscape stakes.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Deerblock protective mesh This mesh is very thin and flimsy, would not stand up to a deer wanting in to a garden space, unless it had multiple layers, and still might not stand up to a hungry determined deer, or in my case a rabbit. A rabbit actually jumped into the mesh and it tore where I connected to posts. Works much better wrapped over blue berry and raspberry bushes, to keep the birds out. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for stopping fruit thieves (the two-legged kind) The pests I needed to stop are the human kind that live in my neighborhood. For several years people walked onto my driveway and planting beds to pilfer fruit from my Satsuma orange tree. They steal most of the fruit before it has a chance to ripen. They sneak up with grocery bags and fill them up. I guess when they were kids their parents taught them how to steal. This year I wrapped the Satsuma with Deerblock, using two lengths of paracord as drawstrings to snug up the mesh at the top and bottom of the tree. Zero Satsuma theft this year! Takes me little extra time to unwrap the tree before harvesting but it's worth it. The black netting and paracord are nearly invisible from the street. December 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked perfectly I used this product to top my chicken pen to keep owls out and it worked perfectly! Thank you! July 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NO MORE DEER It was easy to install but rather cumbersome to unwrap but that is the nature of the material. June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Only good for temporary use Not sure if the site tells you how thick the plastic is but its really thin about the size of a dimes thickness, it may deer's away for a short time but not in the long run May 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Thin Thin and weak, doesn't hold up anything or keep anything away May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Used it for something else I used the product to keep a new puppy from going out a wrought iron fence. Worked so far. April 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lighter weight than we thought The mesh was pretty easy to work with and I think it is stronger than it looks. It is invisible when you have it up, so that is a good thing. It's keeping the birds and deer out, too, so that's very good as well. August 18, 2015
