Can 2 of these be handle tied?

Want to use 10-3 from panel and branch at first junction into 2 circuits using 12-2.
Asked by: matt
Yes, installing an approved handle tie is the preferred method over using a 2-pole breaker on a multiwire branch circuit. The NEC requires a common disconnect and not a common trip which the handle tie provides. This makes it easier to troubleshoot a circuit that is tripping it's breaker allowing you to physically see which circuit is the problem.

Customer Reviews

20 Amp 1 in. Single-Pole Type BR Replacement Circuit Breaker is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from exactly what I needed breaker fits Bryant/Westinghouse panel as I expected.
Date published: 2015-09-22
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A shorted lamp caused the Eaton 15A breaker to trip as required. A shorted lamp caused the 15A breaker to trip as required. When the breaker trips the handle goes to a mid position not to the OFF position. To reset the breaker you need to first toggle OFF then ON. I didn't realize that the device had this two step process to reset and couldn't find it in any documentation. Once I discovered the process the breaker worked fine. Some indication of the mid position on the device might have been helpful. To me it looked to be in the off position when it tripped. The HOME Depot description did mention a mid position
