The two rechargeable AA Ni-Cd batteries in my solasar post light show a 700mAh on them. Do the ones that are 1000 or even higher mean they are better,

Also. will anything other than the 700mAh 1.2 V even work in my solar post light?

No, the higher the mAh number generally means they will last longer per charge.

what is the mAh rating
Asked by: hogan
An Milliamp Hour(mAh) is a unit for measuring electric power over time. mAh is commonly used to describe the total amount of energy a battery can store at one time. It's the easiest way to distinguish the strength or capacity of a battery. The higher the mAh, the longer the battery will last.

My solar post light requires a rechargeable 1.2 V AA. 300 mAh can this be used or does Energizer have such a battery?

Asked by: Liz
Most any rechargeable AA battery will work for you, though you need to make sure what kind of battery your solar light can use. There are three types of rechargeable batteries: Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), and Lithium Ion (Li-ion). Most older devices will accept NiMH & NiCd. NiMH batteries have high capacity, no memory effects and environmentally friendly. Lithium batteries are far superior in almost every way compared to the NiMH & NiCd, though they are also the most expensive. I have bought quite a few from Home Depot along with the charger. I have had to throw out several AAs and AAAs because they wont recharge in the charger. Very frustrating and expensive. Better and cheaper to just buy alkaline batteries. The claim you get up to 100 charges will sell them but it is misleading. If they charge they work ok.
