Screws stuck in the door stop

This question is from Satin Nickel Spring Door Stop

We bought about a dozen of these door stop and every single one of them has the screws on the inside. We tried taking the cap off to get the screw out but no luck. The bottom end doesn't seem to budge (open), and the spring doesn't bend enough to fish the screw out of the interior. I know the screw is in there, because I can hear it rattling around. A little help, please?

Answer:
Often, they are packaged that way. The large end (the metal base) unscrews from the spring revealing the wood screw inside.

Answer:
I only purchased one and had no problem getting the screw out of the bottom end, turning it around and putting it into the wall. Maybe you could go to your nearest Home Depot and talk to someone in costumer service. I'm sure they would be very willing to help.

Answer:
It probably would if you wanted it to by twisting it off; but it doesn't come off by itself.

Answer:
Typically, these are mounted on the wall. That said, I have seen these mounted to the door as well. It really depends on what is going to be less obtrusive for traffic flow and if there is solid wood to screw to (eg, not on the hollow section of a door).

Customer Reviews

Satin Nickel Spring Door Stop is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from They do their job well. We put one of these on the baseboard for all of our interior doors. They look good and keep the door from hitting the wall. As an added bonus, our young one loves making the “boing” noise with these. Because of that reason, we discovered that the spring is easy to remove and reinstall later.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Price was right! I have had similar products before, so I'm not concerned about the design. The durability of the "finish" is my main concern and that will take more time to evaluate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This product is a great choice for those looking for a door stop and you have white woodwork. It blends in and does not stand out. Keeps the look clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Door stop Very esay to install. Drill a hole, screw on the holder and twist on the spring. I was up and running in minutes. Nice nickle finish.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product but some QC Issues These doorstops work well once installed. The spring action means that they are less likely to get broken than the solid type. Mounting is easy and fast. However, when I purchased 14 of these, two did not contain mounting screws. No big deal, a #6 x 3/4 is all that is needed however it is a hassle if you are on the job and don't have extra hardware handy. Overall they work well and as expected.
