Answer:
Yes! Fatwood starter sticks are simple to use and burn hot to start your fire. You still need to pile smaller wood over the Fatwood, followed by medium and then larger wood just like any other method of building a fire. The best way to light them is to LIGHT THE ENDS, not the middle. Two sticks will usually be enough to start a properly stacked woodpile.

Answer:
Use it to start wood on fire. It burns down fairly quickly so smoke from this should be gone by the time the regular wood is ready for cooking.

Answer:
Yes, if your planning on using it to start a larger fire of hardwood. Pine is a little to smoky and fast burning for a cooking fire. This is simply pine wood with a naturally high level of sap in it.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good for store bought! I always buy the most wet lookin bag amber or red. Typically the least amount of pieces but saturated. Its lights better when cut feathers in it. A good value if it's not in your area naturally. September 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by lite a match with it , good luck I tried a match to this and it took forever and than went out. Tried a touch and the same thing happened. Won't buy again. March 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fatwood Used Fatwood fire starters before, they worked well. Purchased some at Home Depot 11/30/15, could not light them with numerous matches, had to use a propane torch to get them lighted. Will return for refund. December 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by winter burn The individual pieces of fatwood were of good size and clean burn . February 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fatwood is hot! I love how easy it is to start the fire using this fatwood. December 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT PRODUCT I gave this to my son-in-law as a joke gift last year for Christmas and he just loves the product. I have since started using it and it is truly a wonderful buy. It is inexpensive and it goes a long way as you don't have to use but a couple to get the fire going and it starts almost immediately. I only wish I had found this product sooner. My family and I will continue to use it as long as it is available. Thank God for for no more rolled up papers and the residue. The only drawback is that it is hard to find as it disappears from the stores quickly. But, if you call lthe store they will let you know when the shipment is coming in and they are very friendly about it. Buy this product and see if you don't agree with the others who love it like we do. December 15, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fatwood Firestarters I have been using this product for several years and burn wood in my fireplace througout the winter. this is by far the best product for the price, very easy to use, Have noticed if I have a bag left over for use the following year it won't start as quickly, however, still a good product. I have given these as gifts to family...makes a nice presentation in one of the home depot brass waste-can (planter?) and attractive by the fireplace. December 19, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fatwood Great product, starts wood burning fires quickly...only need two to start the fire...forget using newspaper...doesn't leave too much creosote in the chimney...I usually ask every year when I get the chimney cleaned!!!!! Usually stock-up for the winter, they sell fast!!!! November 29, 2008
