Is this cable rated High Speed or Standard?

This question is from 12 ft. HDMI Cable - Black

This cable and its packaging is a little confusing I think. HDMI cables are rated for two speeds--High Speed (formerly known as Category 2 cables), which are certified for up to1080p speeds, and Standard (f/k/a Category 1), which are only certified for up to 1080i. The cable itself says "High Speed", and the front and back of the packaging says it supports 1080p, which suggests it is High Speed--but the back of the packaging also has the HDMI association's officially sanctioned "HDMI Standard" logo, and not the official "HDMI High Speed" logo. So I just am not sure whether this cable is High Speed or Standard. Maybe pass this question along to the manufacturer?

The best viewing through Cable or Satellite TV right now is 720 which is considered High Definition. This cable will do whatever you need for any product on the market today. The only time you use anything higher than 720 is when you have linked your equipment to a Blu-Ray DVD. Right now, the best Blu-Ray is 1080p because it is matched to to the best TV equipment which can only receive 1080p. Your limitations are not necessarily the cable today, but the equipment sending and receiving the signal. As technology develops, you may need an upgraded cable, but for now, you are good to go. Best Buy wants to sell you Monster brand cables, but you can still only send signal down the line at either Cable or Satellite speeds of 720, and Blu-Ray at 1080p, then your TV must also be able to decode the 1080p signal. For example, if you took a soda pop bottle and trickled the water into it you are regulating the water at maybe 1 gallon a minute. This would equate to 720. The bottle would accept that flow of water (or your TV at that rate of a signal), If you had a water hose turned on full blast, that might be 5 gallons a minute. This would equate to 1080p. The bottle would accept that flow of water (or your TV at that rate of a signal). Of course with 1080p you get better picture/sound quality, but you are limited (with this cable rated at 1080p) by the signal strength (Cable or Satellite TV), and the TV decoder. Read Less

Answer:
Hi DME,
Thank you for your question.
The design and gauge of this cable allows for 1080p reception. However, it is tested at standard speed.
Hope this helps.

For example Model 87709 is a store exclusive, but is much more expensive than the 22861004 offered online. I think that you will find that the shipping will be quick and affordable and the difference in price is worth the wait.
Hope that helps. Read Less

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal 12 foot HDMI cable for a great price. The picture quality is nice, the cord quality itself is average, but HDMI is a standard- so long as they're qualified by the regulatory body they'll all give the same picture (though newer cords have more features.) This cord is pretty basic, but it does what it says it'll do, which is transmit HDMI image and video. Never buy one like this for more than 15 dollars. Shop around for the best price, and you'll more than likely find it right here at Home Depot! August 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly as described Just what I needed to hide my entertainment cords. Fits all my TVs and devices. Great price too. If HD just carried the long monitor cable, I could have finished my cord hiding project in a day. September 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it's supposed to do It's a wire it does what a wire does can't really see it working July 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by UPC030878228619 12' HDMI Full HD to 1080p This cable is a great price. I have a Panasonic 55" 3-D TV and I have all of my components linked through this brand and it works flawlessly. I even use the HDMI port from my laptop to Receiver with the extra one I purchased. Great color, resolution and sound. Best Buy and even WalMart want at least 3x what this cost. I have heard that when they sell out, they will not be getting more so get them while they are still available. January 28, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stunning Value After refusing to pay $30 for a 6' HDMI cable at an electronics store, I jumped on this cable with similar specs for $6 for a 12' cable at Home Depot. I have connected it up and it works as well as any of the fancy cables that look great hidden behind the TV. Thanks, Home Depot! November 29, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Xmas Deal We picked up 4 of these over the black friday weekend. With all the great deals else where, they wanted to charge you so much more this accessory. Went to Home Depot to pick up some items and these 12' HDMI Cable for less than $6. This is why I love home depot. November 29, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great price! This hdmi cable was a great price for the length!! I use it to watch movies and Netflix from my iPhone. Does exactly what I needed it to do. April 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I needed when I needed it! Needed longer cables to use with a wall mounted arm for the TV - old cables were too short. Normally would have ordered from internet, but HD had them, and at a great price. They are working just fine a month later. January 24, 2012
