Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed We bought this refrigerator about two years ago and already the door handle to the fridge has come off. This fridge is used by only one single adult and has not had any abuse, just normal use. When we called to get a replacement handle, we were told we had to buy both the fridge and freezer handle at a cost of $85. This is too much for just handles and we were disappointed that we could not buy just the fridge handle. We are not using duct tape, not too attractive.

We got our old fridge as an emergency replacement on a weekend when the one before it went out. Choices were limited at such a short notice so the replacement was pretty bad. It was old, so after a year I wasn't sure how much longer it would continue to last. That's where this fridge comes in.
So far its met all of our expectations. We purposely decided on a model without an icemaker because we have sulfer water. The plus to that is that there is no icemaker taking up valuable freezer space. Another awesome thing about this product is the large shelves on the door that can hold a gallon of milk. And, unlike a side-by-side model, you can fit wider items like a large pizza without any issues. The only thing I've noticed is that the fridge is a bit louder than our past models, but the booklet claims this is normal.
Overall, I have no complaints.

We have been purchasing these GE refrigerator units from Home Depot. They are energy efficient and excellent.

We really wanted an 18.5 cu. ft. refrigerator. But that was not to be found. Therefore, it is just a little small. But the 19.1 cu. ft. models were too large for the space. The colored view of the refrigerator showed that all of the shelves were glass, except for the wire rack in the freezer. The opened empty refrigerator picture showed two of the wire racks in the refrigerator and one in the freezer. I failed to closely view both pictures. So, I was a little disappointed. I will eventually get used to the smaller space. I like G.E. products. So, I am looking for this refrigerator to last a long time!

Good basic refrigerator. Our garage frig died, and this was the replacement. We got $95 in energy rebates, so that helped to offset the slightly higher cost for Energy Star appliance.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by frank all those years making refrigerators is this the best GE can do ?
Refrigerator ordered with door hinges on the left, it arrived with hinges in the right. No problem said the delivery men, and proceeded to remove the doors and put them on the left side. Problem solved right?
WRONG....doors freezer and refrigerator door will now stay open unless closed up against the magnetic seal. Every other refrigerator I ever owned the doors would close when they were within a few inches of closure. Now because the door is not fully closed the refrigerator runs a lot, bothersome during the day, pain in the butt at night

The 18.2 cubic foot GE refrigerator is a good buy. There is plenty of storage space for us in the freezer and refrigerator sections. The refrigerator is a bit noisy compared to our old one, but not bad. It is also difficult to reach some items in the back because of the extra depth of the refrigerator compartment. Overall we are happy with our purchase.

My wife and I were looking for a relatively inexpensive fridge that had an ice maker - nothing fancy. We expected this unit to be on the light side of quality because of the price. We were happily mistaken! This is a fine product. High quality construction and the interior is well thought out. We highly recommend.
