I have two sections of kitchen cabinets and I purchased rope lighting for the top of both. The lines easily dropped down to an electrical outlet but needed a timer to make it easy and better looks for the area in the kitchen. The timers were small and unobtrusive and worked great.

Timer easy to program and works fine. Two notes on setting the programming tabs:
1) All the tabs were pushed down on both timers purchased. Follow the instructions and push up on tabs to make sure they are all in the up position before pushing tabs down to program the time(s) you want. If the tabs are up, the tabs will push down with very little pressure. If the push hard--- the tabs are likely already down!
2) Point the TIME NOW arrow on a key you will not be pushing down. You cannot push down a key that the TIME NOW arrow is pointing at. Would have been helpful if this was in the instructions.
3) Basic timer --- inexpensive --- does the job. I use mine to control the shop lights on my indoor plant table --- that is used to grow tomato and pepper plants from seed --- into mature plants ready for the garden

We just needed this for our food dehydrator which doesn't require a lot of pinpoint accuracy. We haven't had it that long so I'm not sure about it's durability. I'm an engineer, so I'm a little concerned about all of the tiny parts that play a role in setting the time. You have to push in tiny little buttons that are located all the way around the face of the timer. So, you would push down everything between 2 and 4pm if you needed to run for 2 hours. That is 4 to 5 tiny buttons you push in. You can override the timer with a single switch to make it a standard plug. We'll see over time...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mike If you do the following you will be happy with this timer.
1. Take a Sharpee and write on the side of the timer DOWN=ON, UP=OFF. 2. pull all the pins UP before programming.. 3. If you have big fingers use something small, like a pen or small screwdriver to press the pins down for the times you want the power ON. Set the current time on the wheel against the arrow. Be careful not to accidently change it while handling or get the am/pm wrong (my favorite way of messing up). Don't buy this timer if you might ever need to plug in a 3 pin plug. No ground pin hole in this timer, In my opinion a serious defect, why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. I recommend paying a couple extra bucks and getting a timer with the 3 pin plug and outlet.

Works like a charm and is a great buy for the price. The only thing I didn't realize is that it is a 2 prong plug in. So I bought the 3 to 2 prong converters so I could plug my extension cord into it and it works great!

The product was simple and did what it was meant to do. I had bought them for our Christmas lights and for a couple of lamps around the house for security (also so that it wouldn't be so dark in the house when we get home from work!)...

I had the same problem with the settings. I wanted Christmas lights to turn on at 4:30 PM and turn off at 12:30 AM. The trick was to have ALL the pins from 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM in the UP position.
