Customer Questions & Answers

Example: How do I get the doors to shut?

Asked by: dsfsdfsdf
Hello- This is Lisa from GE. I am happy to assist you. Check the leveling legs. The front of the refrigerator should be slightly higher than the back, to allow the door to close normally. When properly adjusted, the door will close smoothly and firmly on its own. Check to see whether the refrigerator door gasket is sealing properly. If not, wash the entire gasket with baking soda and water (1 part baking soda to 3 parts water), especially on the hinge side. Then lubricate the hinge side of the gasket with paraffin wax (not candle wax). All refrigerator door gaskets are designed to rub the face of the refrigerator as they close. Keeping the gaskets clean and lubricated prevents them from dragging and restricting door closure. Place heavier items in the door compartments to provide some ballast. Make sure there is nothing in the freezer or refrigerator that is preventing a door from closing tightly. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking!

Doesn't anybody make a refrigerator with top freezer and water AND ICE dispenser anymore?

I have a very old GE Profile that has freezer on top and has water and ice dispenser in door. We use the ice dispenser constantly. We have been able to get the fridge fixed every time it has gone out, but last year the service man said it would probably be the last time he could fix it. Our space doesn't allow for a side by side and don't know if we can do without the ice dispenser. Help.

Hello, This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to answer your question. Currently, GE does not offer a top-freezer refrigerator with an external ice and water dispenser. Thank you for checking with us!

can I get no ice maker? will price be less?

Asked by: tai
Hello- This is Lisa from GE. This unit is not available without an icemaker. It comes from the factory with one, so there would not be a price reduction. Thanks for checking!

Can I get this refrigerator, PTS25SH, 24.6 cu ft, in bisque

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Gary, Thank you for your interest in the GE Profile Top Freezer Refrigerator model PTS25SHSSS. This model number is stainless steel only. Model PTS25LHS is the same model available in black or white. The Profile 25 cubic foot is not manufactured in bisque. You may want to consider model GTS22KBPCC in bisque. Donna with GE

Customer Reviews

Profile 24.6 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator in Stainless Steel is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will work w. design features that will make you miserable. Bought this unit once in 2005 and then in 2008 for a different house. More space than side by side, good energy star rating, weird finish...but I wanted lots of space for veggies and fruit... and not so much freezer space. At the time this was the only unit that met these specs. The design problem is that the unit cycles up to 10 degrees higher when it does its defrost thing. This spoils ice cream's creamy quality, pie dough gets crystals on it, pizzas have lots of frost on the top and the box deteriorates...Yak. I called; GE changed the thermostat, but nothing changed. Could find no other fridge with this space arrangement. Oct 15th it stopped working and we spent over $400.00 having it fixed...easier than shopping for a new one. Dec. 29th, came home from Tahoe, to find fridge not working and an incredible stench. Called GE and they offered a new fridge with a $400.00 discount. There is a saying about "fool me once...". After I threw everything out it started working again...intermittently. GE felt that I should be thrilled. On New Year's EVE: I found the same style interior that I like so much...but even better from another company at about $500.00 less! Delivered by them on Jan. 2nd. There are more things out there...keep looking. ...there is better than GE!!! and lots cheaper too!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very spacious After a long wait I got my refrigerator. I ordered it in June and at last Home Depot finally delivered it to my home in the first week of September; don’t know why it took so long, they were keep changing delivery date. I waited for so only because nowadays there is very limited choices in large Top Freezers refrigerators, most of them come in less than 20 CU.FT. When the door is open, the inside appears so large that it makes me feel I've stepped inside it. I thing the lights should be placed little inside because if you are not careful while pulling thing out from top rack you might hit the lights and you can break the cover of the light. I am in love with this fridge! It is bright, has lots of room, and the freezer is very spacious!!The thing which I don’t understands in it the water dispenser which is inside at the left side of the fridge, I don’t know what s the use of having disperser inside the fridge, they should not have that feature at all in these kinds of Models.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Ever! The size of this refrigerator is awesome, but the quality is the worst! I needed a large refrigerator to store 4 to 6 gallons of milk each week..(5 kids)..Door could not handle one gallon and all the other regular items stored in the door. It began to sag and was "fixed" twice. It still hung improperly and allowed cold air to seep out. The freezer always froze over and built up a bunch of ice. The ice cubes always fell from the tray and were all over the freezer. This was a terrible purchase and I will never buy GE again. It now died after only 5 years. It's not even worth getting repaired! They just don't make refrigerators like they use to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like my cheap refrig in garage as much Thought buying a good product. Main computer replaced when still under warranty thank God. Bottom drawer sliders fall apart. so constantly fighting with them. Drawers constantly falling out of slide. Fan in freezer makes fairly loud noise on and off. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Frig! We have owned a GE Profile for 10 years, but after re-modeling wanted new appliances. Our previous frig of this same model top freezer has so much space that we decided to get the same model again. It is the biggest one we could find, and always having been so pleased with GE Profile, the decision was easy. The stainless is beautiful, and we are so pleased with the purchase. As always, the delivery people at Home Depot were so helpful and courteous.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from awkward arrangement This refrigerator has such a huge and unnecessary freezer compartment that the actual refrigerator section is not accessible, It is deep and set back and is visually and physically difficult to get into. Might be great for someone in a wheelchair, but not for a standing person. I am only 5'4" and it is too low for me. The stainless steel finish is pretty, but fingerprints terribly and requires constant wiping. The filtered water is very good, but also difficult to access and drips water on floor if you are not extra careful. Bottom storage drawers are deceivingly small. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Refrigerator, but get a surge protector First of all, let me start out by saying I really do think this is a very good refrigerator with ample space. There is one large caveat, however. One previous reviewer mentioned having to buy a new computer mainboard. This happened to me as well due to a power surge. Who new refrigerators had sensitive computers that require surge protection? The tech who installed the new mainboard (which you could do yourself pretty easily) recommended that I plug it into a surge protector. Did that before he even left. Lesson learned. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Big nice fridge, but noisy to my taste. + Pretty big and looks good. + Working as a fridge pretty solidly for couple of months. Makes ice and stuff.. Reason why wouldn't recommend it: - Noisier than I expected. Nothing obnoxious or anything, normal whirring and stuff, but noisier than my previous fridge that was half the cost probably (it was pretty new as well bought by previous owners, but did not fit well into floorplan, no idea why did they put it there). There are two sources of noise - compressor on the back and fan inside. You can't do anything to a fan. I called for warranty service and a very nice and knowledgeable service person arrived (Who worked directly for GE, and not some random third party which is nice) and they insulated compressor it is much better now. I guess it works only if you live in colder climate like I do. - Cold water line is a tad narrow for my taste, takes a while to fill a cup. Somehow I got one without a filter, but GE service person noticed it and put one there for free.
