I have an old GE JXCD44 downdraft.
The downdraft works super, it is excellent.
If I buy this cooktop does it come with the downdraft suction engine and all necessary installation parts?
What is the Home Depot cost to install the new cooktop? - the size is the same, and as mentioned the previous cooktop is also a GE downdraft.
Thank you.

We purchased a new kitchen island and had the cooktop installed. As far as the counter install all went well but when we went to have the venting

installed we realized that the downdraft blower was no longer lined up with the vent hole to the exterior. This is a modular home. The new island is larger then the old one. Can we add an elbow in order to make the vent hose exit to under the home? I hope I have made this clear. If not when I return to Florida I will take a photo. We have very little clearance from the bottom of the blower to the floor of the counter.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 175 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Two thumbs up I needed to exchange this for a black unit as the white did not go with the new granite tops that we had installed. Your staff in both the Gig Harbor, WA and Silverdale, WA store could not have been more helpful and courtious. I wish all my purchases and exchanges could be handled this well. Thank you. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cooktop great We purchased this to replace the cooktop that had been cracked when a cast iron pot lid was dropped on it. The new one is just as easy to use and clean as the old one. The only issue is that the lower left control knob is not intuitive. When used like the others, right to turn it on, it turns on both the circle element and the bridge element. You have to turn it to the left to use just the circle element. December 26, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I like almost all aspects except it is super hard I have had smooth top stoves since they first came out in the 70's. Before buying this one, I looked at reviews and the only negative ones I saw involved keeping it clean. I was a bit cocky thinking the reviewers just did not know the proper care of a smooth top. I was wrong. This has been the hardest to clean one that I have ever owned. We did learn that the only way to get streaks off is with Windex. It is also very hard to clean around the knobs. Otherwise it heats quickly and we love all other features. January 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good option for downdraft Quality and performance - top notch, no complains at all. But installation could've been easier. Certain components are easier put together before the cooktop is in place. And it would've been good to have the longer power cables coming out of the unit and the metal conduit included. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement for same cooktop Very happy with it. Improved smooth top downdraft. February 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to clean! This replaced a very old high end downdraft cooktop and it fit perfectly into the old spot. I love all the features and sizes of the burners. It is much easier to clean than the older model I had. After it cools off, I just use a soapy dish cloth to get most of the mess off, then I use the glass cook top cleaner as directed. It takes just minutes. If there is a hard textured burn or spill, then I first use a razor blade to scrape off the spill, then I use the glass cook top cleaner. The only disadvantage is that its hard to read the settings on each knob. I have to get out my reading glasses for that. August 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good cooking surface This was purchased at the request of my spouse. The only criticism is the grade that covers the exhaust! It is poorly designed and those not fit well. September 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So functional and easy to clean Replaces an earlier model and I wouldn't have considered anything else November 17, 2015
