Customer Questions & Answers

Does this have a digital display on the control panel that shows how many minutes long the cycle is or is left in the cycle?

If it doesn't, can you list some of the GE profile models that do?
Asked by: Anonymous
No it does not. All the controls are hidden. There is a delay run option but it only has a 2, 4 or 8 hr. delay button. It does not show how long a normal cycle is or how much time is left in the wash, rinse or total cylcle time. Since I bought this almost a year ago I cannot comment on any other models.

Does this machine have a pot scrubber jet

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Linda, Thank you for your interest in the GE Profile Built-In Tall Tub Dishwasher model # PDWT300VWW. Potscrubber was a marketing term and cycle name that has changed and now called Heavy Wash, Deep Clean etc. The Potscrubber cycle was designed to extend the wash time and increase the water temperature to remove tough soils and dried on food. Model PDWT300VWW offers the DeepClean cycle with Steam Prewash. This is comparable to Potscrubber. It removes tough, baked-on soils like egg, rice and oatmeal. PDWT300VWW offers the following. Number of Cycles: 4 * Auto * Deep Clean™ with Steam * Normal Wash * China/Crystal Number of Options: 5 * Delay Start 2/4/8 Hr. * Heated Dry On/Off * Added Heat * Steam Pre Wash * Automatic Hot Start™ I hope this helps Thank you for considering GE! Customer Reviews

Top Control Dishwasher in Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel Tub and Steam Cleaning is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job almost silently Ive had this about 3 weeks now. Installed myself. Pretty straight-forward installation, though I had to re-route the power and in/out water because these need to enter the washer space ~6 inches or less from the floor. I also realized in doing the install that the old Kitchen Aid this one replaced lacked the looping in the drain hose that is needed for good drainage. Might help explain why it drained so poorly. This GE does a tremendous job with the dishes we've run so far, mainly recent dinner dishes, glassware and silverware. I also loaded once on the top shelf a glass cake dish with some baked on residue and was shocked to see it come out clean. This VSS model is rated for better energy efficiency versus RSS, which weighed me to get this one. It's very quiet. I like the rack design: its very clear how to load everything and plates don't fall over or bang against the rotating wash heads. Plenty of space. Haven't yet tried the liquid dispenser. There is a traditional soap dish in addition so we're using dry soap cakes. So far, quite pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent & Quite Cleans good, very quiet. Really like the auto-soap dispenser. Control buttons are easy to use and out of the way on the top of the door. Easy to install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful at any price This unit has been a nightmare. We purchased it through GE by trading in our old unit. The old unit, while a bit beaten down after 9 years, worked. This one thus far has been horrid, starting with the install. 1. Install that was set-up by GE was poor. 2. Handle on the front door was not flush, GE would not replace but "repaired it" 3. Screw fell out of front door. 4. Top rack will not move smoothly in and out after less than 3 months. Constantly falls off. 5. Residue left in front of unit constantly (we use the recommended cascade, and rinse agent) 6. Cleaning only works if you run the heavy duty setting every time, unless you pre-rinse. 7. Though parts of the cycle it is much louder than 51db. 8. UNREAL that the retail is 1k on this. I have owned $400 dollar units that worked better. 9. The soap dispenser at times "dribbles" extra soap. (we have used the same recommended soap from day 1) 10. When clean on the outside - it does look nice!!! Honestly, we purchased this to have consistency in our kitchen from unit to unit. We had to replace a 9 year old profile refrigerator (a bit short lived) and did this at the same time for a consistant look and feel. Never again. Since we bought it through GE I am attempting to get a refund and just return it. We have owned it less than 3 months. I simply would not buy this unit at any price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cleans great... dries not so much It's very efficient, and very quiet. Easy to load with lots of room... easy to understand controls and settings. Cleans dishes without having to rinse first. BUT, it does a very poor job of drying dishes (plastic and otherwise), even with the "Added Heat" setting engaged. If it dried better, I'd give it 5 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge disappointment--had to replace in less than five years. This dishwasher is a disaster! The wheels on the bottom tray fell off, and the dishes are filthy. I run the longest and hottest cycle each time--to no end. Coffee cups are black, plates are gritty and utensils are disgusting. I now have to rerun the cycle, often to no avail. This dishwasher is attractive on the outside, but is fundamentally flawed. NEVER GE Again! Huge dissappointment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dishwasher We did a great deal of research, looking, touching and feeling prior to purchasing this product. We found the more you look and research, the more confused you get...and you just can't please everyone. We liked all the features and quality of this GE Dishwasher and based on the fact that our previous GE Dishwasher had lasted 20+ years. We decided on the GE brand and this particular model based on features, size and appearance. I did the install myself, which was very easy/streightforward and everything worked great. The unit cleans and dries perfectly using the liquid dispenser, which I love not having to fill about once each month. Would highly recommend this unit to anyone!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs very quiet & dishes sparkle! We have had this dishwasher for about 9 months & so far it does a great job cleaning the dishes. It's also very quiet. We sometimes forget it's running. We purchased this to replace a very old dishwasher in the new home we bought. The dishes coming out of the old washer were very spotted & it just didn't do a good job at all. I even tried a rinsing agent. With this newer one everything sparkles. Even though we live in a "hard water" area. I like the hidden controls. I only wish it had a rinse only cycle. I also am a little disappointed in the silverware holder. It has a 3 piece holder which comes apart almost every time I take it out. I now remove 1 section at a time. I do like the top rack with spaces for wine glasses. I did use the auto liquid (dish soap) dispenser but I'm not too thrilled with that because the opening that dispenses the cleaner gets clogged at times. I guess the cleaner gets sticky & clumpy after sitting in the dispensing area for long periods. I now just use the regular cleaning dispenser. Also because it's stainless you do see fingerprints but if you use a stainless appliance cleaner in the spray can it cleans up very nice & looks brand new again. Overall I'm really happy with the purchase & I would recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst dishwasher I've ever owned. Very disappointed in GE We've owned 2 GE dishwashers prior to this one, and GE appliances came with our home when we built it. After 20 years we needed to replace the ovens and range, and decided to go with GE again, although we had replaced the original dishwasher with a Whirlpool after 5 years or so. We wanted all matching so chose the stainless GE Profile. No matter which settings we choose, it has never gotten the dishes clean, we have to scrub even coffee rings out of the cups and wash anything that might be even slightly greasy first because they will not come clean even with the highest settings. The dishes are also wet and I have to dry them before putting them away. What is the point of having a dishwasher when I have to hand wash everything except a water glass and dry them when I'm done. My 15 year old dishwasher never had this problem. This new GE is almost a year old now, I absolutely hate it and I'm ready to replace it with something else. Also, the handle sticks out so far that if you have a drawer or cabinet to the side of it, the dishwasher has to be shut completely to open the drawer, which will wear out the seal much faster. No one mentioned this consideration to us, and we noticed it too late after it was already installed. Just a big disappointment all around. Would never purchase this item again. Other reviewers have mentioned the dirty dish issue as well. Isn't that it's main function, washing dishes?!?!?! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
