Answer:
Yes, you run two ethernet cables though your wall to the outlet and plug it into the back of the outlet, then assemble and it's a neat and easy job. You'll have to plug the other ends into a router or switch that's connected to a router. Now you just need to plug a cable into the wall and the other end to your computer or networked peripheral and your connected.

Answer:
both sides are female rj-45 sockets but both sides are not equal. the facing side of the plate should only be plugged into your device or you'll incur a 10 Mbps bottleneck. the backside has to be plugged into your modem/router

Answer:
LadyPamela, the wall plate and outlet portion are one piece, even if they could be separated that a standard decorative wall plate wouldn’t fit. Jasco Products Tech Support (Manufacturer)

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY!!! will restrict your connection to a 10 Mbps speed! I'm capable of a 1Gbps speed but through this jack, any connection is reduced to 10 Mbps (1/100th of the speed!). tested by connecting computer via cat 5e directly to the router/ cable modem (1 Gbps); tested again by connecting computer via CAT 5e via wall jack to router/cable modem (10 Mbps). wish I would've tested this before running a cable through the attic and installing this terrible wall plate in two rooms January 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tested and performs exactly as specified, perfect for my needs I am installing a gigabit LAN in my home and I have worked in high-tech for 29 years. This wall jack allows me to run non-snag completed cables through my walls to these outlets without the need for crimping and twiddling individual wires in each cable, which is very convenient. I have one of these installed in a wall outlet and another that I will install this weekend in another room. I just completed an ethernet lan speed test. I am using Cat-6 cables for all my connections and keeping cabling limitations in mind, like bend radius, etc., to ensure that I get the full Cat-6 benefit. First, I connected a laptop directly to my router and verified 1Gb/sec. Since the quality of the cable is critical to speed, I tested all three Cat-6 cables that I would need to use in the wall jack test to ensure that all were good cables, and they were. Then I connected a gigabit ethernet switch between my router and my laptop and verified that I still got 1Gb/sec. Finally, knowing that all other components were good, I put this wall jack into the circuit, checked my speed, and I still got 1Gb/sec, so this is working out as a nice, neat, easy to implement solution for my LAN. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product is exactly as advertised. Works great, using standard cables. no wiring required. May 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Inexpensive and no wiring needed. Easy to install. Has female RJ45 plugs on both sides of wall plate, so no tricky wiring. Much cheaper than similar supplies from other stores. January 15, 2013
