Rated 3 out of 5 by from Garage access This is a good keypad when it is working. This is our 2nd one in a year and a half. Works perfectly but it just stopped working even after batteries were changed.

Easy to install and program. Works well when working in the backyard and you don't want to leave your garage door open. If I need a tool or something out of the garage but don't want to go thru the house to access the garage, this works well. I don't have to carry a garage door opener that would normally go in the car. If I'm out in the neighborhood and didn't bring keys to the house, can get into the house thru the garage during the day.

We never had a key pad opener before but a friend did and I thought it would be nice to have, so we purchased the Genie from Home Depot. It worked perfectly for a couple years but now after 3 years we have to push in the code about 3 to 6 times before it will open. This is a real pain. I'll see if Home Depot will give me a replacement !

This is the second unit I've had to purchase. I opened the broke unit just to see the insides. I was amazed that the circuit board and insides of the unit are not protected from weather. Its marketed to be used outdoors so I'm not sure why its not weather tight!

This opener was easy to install/setup and is better made than older controller it replaced. It's use of 2 "AAA" cells instead of a 9-volt battery make replacement easy. Worked great with existing 10-year old Genie opener - just pressed the opener's "learn" button and hit the UP/DOWN on the keypad.

Unfortunately, these was a defect with the first unit (2 of the numbers stopped working on day one). Fortunately having bought it from Home Depot I simply exchanged it for a new one - now 1 month later all is still working well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alternate Instructions Like many other reviewers, I also had issues with the unit. I followed the directions to a tee, 6 times, until i called. It turns out, there are alternate install instructions. 1) Hold down "Program" and the "Up/Down Button" until the green light under the program button goes out, (It will flash a few times and then go out) 2) THEN, enter "357" and press "Program" 3) Enter your desired code. 4) Press "Program," again. 5) Hold Program until it blinks red, then release. 6) Wait 10 seconds 7) Press LEARN button on garage door motor 8) Enter code on remote and press "Up/Down" 4 times. Worked perfect for me. Good luck!
