Answer:
If you try to mount this straight out of the carton, the mailbox will never fit level on your post. I had to cut and fit a special board to the metal bottom to make the front of the mailbox sit as high as the rear. Pre-drill through the wood and into the post and then secure with woodscrews inserted from the inside of the newmetal mailbox.

Answer:
My husband cut a scrap piece of plywood to fit the underside of the mailbox (actually used 2 to get the height he wanted) and he used wood screws to attach those to the cross arm of the post. He then used wood screws to attach the mailbox to this base.

Thank you for your interest in our products. We make a mounting bracket that is RMB200R20 and it can accommodate 1" up to 2" metal poles. If the pole is bigger, then I would make your own mounting board out of wood.

Thank you for your interest in our products. I would advise not painting it right away in the case there is moisture still trapped in the wood.

But I can say from experience that the mailbox will last at least 10 years. Mine finally met its fate at the hands of a snow plow - same guy mowed-down at least 7 other mailboxes in our neighborhood that day! When I replaced it with the same, I remembered the hassle of installation. If you buy a Gibraltar post kit advertised for the style number, the mounting plate will be ideally sized. However, the cedar housing extends so far over the mounting holes in the actual metal mailbox, the screws are very hard to access.

Ordered this as a Christmas gift for myself/house and BOY,.... would I have been embarrassed if it'd been a gift for anyone else. The quality is not good. It appears slapped together, the door flops open and wont remain shut. But the WORST is the flimsy plastic flag. Perhaps if it was a rigid plastic I could have lived with it, but what's been provided would bend in a gust of wind. Total bummer of a purchase, I'll be bringing it back to the store.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for my purposes I like the look and the cedar wood for a rustic type of mailbox. It is cedar wood built over a standard metal mail box. It may or may not stay together without some additional glue or screws. Part of the roof was coming apart because of the cheap staples used to put it together. Like I said I like the looks and I will make it work for my purposes but it could be assembled a little better.

So many of them have complaints of poor craftsmanship or materials, or both. I am very happy with this choice. The mailbox itself is metal and seems to be very good construction. I have no complaints about the way the cedar is fabricated or assembled. The product looks very nice. I am well pleased with this purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Purple color The mailbox that I received had a purple tint to it (ordered online). I returned it to the store and was hoping to exchange out, but the five or six mailboxes that they had in the store were also purple. Not at all as pictured

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cedar Chalet Mailbox It was fine. Looks just like the picture. The only negative is that it's a bit rough. I would like it if they had sanded it down a bit.
