Customer Questions & Answers

How many doors will one quart of this paint cover?

I have four interior doors that I would like to paint - all 78 x 30. Thank you!
Asked by: Rachal
Of course, it does depend on the size of the doors, but for average sized doors I estimate I paint a between 1.5 and 2 doors per quart.

Can this product be used with a paint sprayer?

Asked by: Lucy
You would have to thin it pretty heavily. Then it might. I have never tried it, though.

Will this paint work on both a wooden surface as well as a metal door? If not, what paint would you recommend? Also, areas of the front/metal door is showing signs of rust spots. I used the bright white for trim inside. 6 months later areas without sunlight are turning yellow.......That's odd... If i ever need to touch up these areas i will need to repaint a large section.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product ever I have used this for interior doors, cabinets, built-ins and trim. It's sort of an odd consistency going on, a little like cottage cheese, but once it dries, the surface is unbelievably smooth and free of streaks. This stuff doesn't drip - fantastic for vertical surfaces and even overhead, and I tend to be a pretty messy painter. This paint makes me look like a pro. I have used it ever since it came out, and all my projects have held up well. I went to get some more today at my local Home Depot, but they told me they had stopped carrying it, because it did not sell well. I hope I can find it at another store, or online.

I've used it on entry doors and even on dull & stained gutters. You need to realize this is not a traditional paint, but rather a gel so it is much thicker and requires one to adjust the painting technique a bit. (start by dipping your brush into paint thinner once before your begin. That will keep your brush from clogging up). My only two complaints: it takes forever to stir prior to application & It is not water based so clean up is a nightmare. That said, I have learned to expect to just throw the brush away when finished. It usually takes two coats but you will end up with a durable, hard shinny surface that is very easy to clean and will look great for years.

That I can get a smooth finish with a brush is amazing - and when I say smooth, I mean it looks like I poured the paint on the surface and let it dry. Follow the directions, the more you brush, the smoother it gets. Only 2 reasons I don't give it 5 stars; 1) It comes in only a few colors so you can't get any color you might want, and 2) it is only available in a high gloss finish. I generally prefer a satin or semi-gloss finish on trim.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice coverage/color tone, strong odor I painted my trims and moldings with this paint, it covered the wood nicely, it is super shiny( ideal for my colonial style home). The paint odor is very, very strong. We had headaches and problem sleeping due to the odor. The paint is very thick and doesn't slide to easily Although it took awhile to finish the project, I am very happy with the final results

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome paint People... This is an oil based paint. IT WILL SMELL as it dries. Once it dries, it will form the most smooth, glossy, and hard surface ever. Imagine having a gaggle of kids splatter mud, food, whatever and you just wipe it off with soap and water just like a countertop and it looks new. Well, that's what this stuff does. I've done all the trim in my house with this and love it. Yes it's not cheap. Yes you will need to ventilate your house while it dries. Afterwards however, you will have a high grade trim paint that lasts a long time and can stand up to heavy use. This isn't water color latex paint that washes off and scratches. This is an oil paint that will smell while it dries and you actual need to use mineral spirits to clean up versus water like latex paints. The end result is awesome and is worth the work. Also, stated renovating a 1939 house 5 years ago which is when I first started using this paint. It's held up awesome and I continue to use it as I renovate.
