I can't tell for sure by reading. Is there two brackets in the package, and thus enough to make a saw horse? Or do you need to purchase two of these to make a single saw horse?

Answer:
"1 piece" in this case refers to one pair of brackets. So 2 actual brackets in each set. Also the picture is upside down.

5.48 in. 10-Compartment Sawhorse Bracket is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good simple product Brackets are well made for the price and easy to use!! Would have made the job of making a set of saw horses very easy if the 2 x 4's were cut correctly! A 2x4 is now really 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". The ones I picked up had several that were 1 3/4" x 3 3/4". I didn't check this before I started cutting my pieces. All of my legs (which slide into these brackets) were 1 3/4" x 3 3/4"!!! So I had to go buy more 2x4's for the legs. Make sure you measure your 2x4's when you purchase!

Easy assembly, just use 3 purple studs per pair and some 1 5/8" drywall screws and you have good economical sawhorses. If you use them regularly use an 2 additional screws per bracket and screw them into the cross brace to hold them open because they do fold down easily. Make sure you get 2 sets because this is only good for one side!

I left the screws to the top rail out on one side to fold when I lift to store and transport. This makes a little wobble that goes away by kicking the legs open. I'll see how it works, I can always put the screws in on the other side. The wood I used was dry, even the new 2 x 4 I bought from Home Depot and it went together nice and snug. I wouldn't want a loose fit. I only plan on using them for light work like painting, but if I were to help someone build a deck, they should hold up with a little care. Nice cheap way to have a little used tool around anytime you need it and not take much storage space.

If I had to do it again I would have just miter the 2x4's, nail em together and not worried about these. Also the rivets are a weak point and broke on me. you will still need to add bracing.
