Product Overview

Henry 555 aluminum roof coating is an ultra-premium fibered aluminum roof coating that forms a shiny, tough, reflective surface. It can decrease heating and air conditioning costs and keeps the inside temperature of a building up to 20°F cooler in summer. This coating is designed for use on the roofs of barns, homes, garages and mobile homes.

California residents: see   Proposition 65 information

  • Seals hairline cracks and pinholes to help increase water resistance of the roof and prevents leaks
  • 7-year warranty
  • For metal, smooth or mineral surface roll roofing, SBS and APP modified roofing, and evaporative coolers
  • Over brushing will interfere with leafing action of the aluminum, so apply to a dry surface; application to a damp surface will cause this product to appear brown
  • Mechanically mix thoroughly before and during application, apply with a good quality soft-bristled brush or commercial-grade spray equipment, apply liberally brushing in one direction only and do not lap

I have a metal roof that is not smooth but "corrugated" on a mobile home. The roof is galvanized metal is quite old but is in good shape; it is the "second roof". Can this product be "roof brushed" on the corrugated roof and if so how much product to cover approx. 1,000 sq. feet.
Asked by: JWS
Yes, you can brush this on your roof. Just make sure you prep your roof. The full instructions are on the label. Now, if you have some ponding water issues, then we recommend using our Henry 869 Rubberized Aluminum coating or fixing all the ponding water areas before you apply the Henry 555 Fibered Aluminum. The Henry 869 offers a 12 year Warranty and is Rubberized, so more flexible. For more info, check out www.henry.com or contact our product support at 800-486-1278. After application, can this roof coating be painted for a different color?

Asked by: Debby
Debby-No, this can not be painted. However, any of our white, acrylic based coatings can; although it would void the warranty. The ones that can be painted or tinted are the 287, 587 or 687 white acrylic roof coatings. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Company and The Home Depot.

4.75 Gal. 555 Premium Aluminum Roof Coating is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 22.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bang for buck for people on limited budget...one coat! Bought one 4.75 gallon pail and one 0.9 gallon can to coat a 12 x 70 mobile home roof. I ended up with approximately 1/2 gallon left. I used a flat 9.5 inch tampico fibers roofing/asphalt brush to brush it on the roof. Tampico fibers hold plenty of product, and there is no way I would roll this on. Brush it on, and that's the recommend way to do it. No need to use a three knot tampico fiber brush because I did not have that many vent pipes to coat around. Used a 1/2 electric drill, and a mixing attachment to help get it mixed. Used a paddle too during the mixing because the attachment will ball up with aluminum, so just use the mixing paddle to scrape it off, and then mix it with the paddle some too. You can mix with just a paddle, but it will take longer to get it mixed good. It will look like liquid aluminum when mixed thoroughly. The 555 only requires one coat. The white stuff requires two coats, so the Henry 555 will save a lot of money if you have to pinch pennies like I had to do. The 555 offers 53% initial reflectance, and I think it was 42% after three years. The 555 is listed on the Cool Roof Rating Council that tests these type of products. The Henry white stuff is rated at about 70% reflectance after three years. I think the 555 is a good bargain for the money spent albeit at a reduced sun reflectance. It does produce a brilliant aluminum color, that looks really good on the roof. Neighbor was wanting to know what it was. The 555 is a better bargain than the cheaper aluminum roof coating. You do get what you pay for with the 555. Highly recommended for people on a limited budget!

This was bought online with Home Depot and the other fairly positive reviews did, that I bought this product. I must confess that I expected it to have a better overage, it's VERY heavy and I had to buy another 7 5gal. buckets to cover 2800 sqft of roof ...12 buckets in total. I had the product delivered to the local Home Depot store to have the product mixed well before using. The local store though wasn't "allowed" to mix it as the lid previously had come off during the shaking process they said ...but they did it anyway and happy me - but still, getting to the bottom of each 5 gal. can, there are about 1 inch of aluminum fiber mix, that has not mixed with the coating fluid ...which of course is disappointing and waste of the main ingredient of the product. Mixing it manually even with a power drill is very tough and messy. I have not yet noticed any improvement in then cooling effect (am in South Florida), but so far it looks good. I don't know yet if I'll purchase this product again - I have to see the effect over time to decide. Due to the above, I have to only rate it "Fair" ..it also set me back additional $700 than expected due to the lox range of each bucket, so overall I expected better from a fairly expensive product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Quality & Price Henry 555 roof coating is the best roof coating. After reading the reviews from other manufacures, I found Henry 555 has the best warranty (7yrs). I purchased 10 buckets, painted the roll tin roof of a house that was built in the late 1800's. Excellent coverage, Even color thru-out. Would definitely buy this product again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT !!! .Have used this paint for yrs. on OLD garage roofing...it covers all leaks...no more rain dripping into shop. YEAH. Would recommend for anyone needing this kind of coverage. Regular aluminum paint just doesn't work for this kind of application. You do need to get brush sold for use with this .( Most any long handle will do )
