Answer:
You can place the clips about 6" to 8" apart if hanging the lights by the wire. If you want to clip each light then you will need one clip per light.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home Accent all purpose light clips (75 pack) I live in central Oklahoma where winds can hit 50-75 mph during the winter. Our first of a few storms caused me some concern as I had consistently been on the roof over the past few years whether I stapled or clipped the lights onto the roof. This year, the lights didn't budge. Great product matter of fact I have never written a recommendation until today. My lights are down, but the clips are still on time to ger the ladder out and finish packing away the holiday decorations. January 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works real well Have used these w/c9 lights on our roof for over 6 seasons. work them under to shingle & they will hold the whole season. One or two will break that's just going to happen. my son -in-law and I put out over 300 lights on the roof and don't have time to got back and do it over. December 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy it I don't know why anyone would say this is a good clip. they will not hold in a gutter, when the lights go on them they just fall right off. I tried slipping them under shingles and they slide right out. I think you you would be better off using the metal screw in hooks. that way next your you can just hang the lights. November 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great inexpensive product Used them to hang Christmas lights from my roof. They have held up well in all sorts of weather and in windy conditions. I was skeptical at first, they seemed a little flimsy and just slid under the roof shingles, but I had no issues at all. I'd recommend January 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I used these clips last year and am reusing them this year. These durable plastic clips slide between the shingles and metal flashing and hold my C9 lights in place. I use 1 clip per light bulb in order to keep each light in an upright position for a uniformed look. November 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to install once you ready the instructions It took a few tries before I looked at the instruction, but once I did these were easy to install and hold the light really well. I think its easier to put them on the string of light then on the gutter. Plus you can do this on the ground. one note, read the instruction, if you put them on the gutter the wrong way they are a bit of paint to remove. December 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for gutters, works with asphalt shingles Bought these clips after replacing old lights with new LED. Decided to try the clips for the roof edge. Most is lined with aluminum gutters and some just has asphalt shingles ending at the flashing. The clips worked great on the gutters to hold light strings and electronic icicles. Asphalt shingles required a bit of effort to lift the edge to work the clips under. After insertion they held the lights properly. December 7, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by garbage Not worth wasting your time on if you live in a windy area. Save your money and find a better product. December 22, 2013
