No. it is pre-finished, and the joints fit very tight and are waxed in the hidden areas to further repel water.

Do you use 6 mil underlayment/moisture barrier or the "bubble wrap" variety? I will be doing installation on wood subfloor as well as concrete slab.

I used the bubble wrap over concrete and you don't notice it but over wood subfloor(upstairs) you can hear the noise sometimes. I guess it will stop eventually.

Answer:
A moisture barrier is required when installing over concrete. Over wood, a moisture barrier is not recommended.
Using a 6 mil poly film or product with the same moisture blocking abilities will fulfill the requirements for the moisture barrier over concrete.

I used Roberts Blackjack 2.5mm Premium underlayment over a wood subfloor. It provides cushioning and noise reduction but the subfloor must still be level (that is, no ridges, lips, etc...sand it flat).

You do not use glue with the click-lock planks. I would use an underlay for sound and moisture. We have always used Roberts 2-in-1 with great results.

No glu since it's a click system. You need to use underlayment. Home depot sells it for about $25 a roll of 100 sq ft.

Dear customer, if you’re going to glue this product you do not need any underlayment. Underlayment is used for floating or a nail down application. - DT

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 54 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really happy with the appearance of this floor. This is a great floor solution. Looks great and is easy to install. I decided to lay the floor on the diagonal, which is a lot more work and you use more flooring, but it resulted in a unique look. Very happy to recommend this product. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful results.very easy to install.Very durabil Replaced horrible laminate with this product and the flooring gave the entire house a much warmer appearance.THE hand scraped look was a nice departure from the typical flooring, more character. February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy installation, looks great! We put this floor down about 3 months ago in the master bedroom and love it. Looking at the hand-scraped samples in the store doesn't do it justice. While it might appear "wavy" up close, the floor picks up the light and looks gorgeous. I want to continue the flooring right through the living room but it looks like Home Depot no longer has Maple Sedona :( June 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hand Scraped Maple Sedona 3/8 in. Thick x 4-3/4 in.Wide x 47-1/4 in. Length Click Lock Hardwood Flooring The flooring was consistent in color and quality. Click together installation was fairly simple however, when filling narrow areas against a wall it was difficult to get down and had to nail it. Otherwise we really like the flooring and it's final appearance. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Pleased Overall We installed about 300sqf in our master bedroom and closets. The finished product looks beautiful! We do like the "hand scraped" contours, where as some others have not - but it is what you get with this particular flooring. The maple grain patterns are incredible! It has a satin vs a glossy finish, which we also very much like for our application. The planks cut very cleanly (with a nice mitre blade) and the fold and lock joints are very tight. The hidden edges of the planks in the joints are also waxed to help repel any moisture. The only reason we give 4 stars on quality is that there are putty-like fills in some of the planks where there were deep knots or other natural issues. Some boxes had none, and one had quite a few. This is not a surface issue, just aesthetic. Some are usable, and some are ugly. We either cut off the usable part and used that at the end to start a new row, or just set it aside. There were also a few boards that just had a strange color or pattern that didn't match. Depending on your application, 10% waste is normal - I would plan on 20-25% to allow for these potential cosmetic issues. Given the low price of this flooring even allowing for the extra scrap, and the overall structural and visual appeal (especially compared to a laminate at the same price) I highly recommend this product! We will be using it again. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Installed about 750 sq.ft. over a year ago. Looks great and and is still in excellent shape. We don't have heavy wear, but there are still no scratches or blemishes. There were only a few damaged pieces and with the multiple lengths in the box there was very little scrap. We planned for 10% overage and had several boxes left over. Our installation had lots of corners and doors and was installed on concrete which was previously carpeted. We had a carpenter help us and I am glad we did: the concrete was uneven so we added a level-cure product to flatten it out, and with all the corners and doors some of the cuts and install were challenging. I would definitely buy this product, or products from the same manufacturer again. June 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better When Laid Down Than in Store I did both a Master Bedroom and the Family Room. Along with the Master Closet, it was about 600 sq. feet. The wood is very beautiful. It looks beautiful. The color is very rich and looks very high end. It has some squeaky areas, but I am not sure if that is from the subfloor and underlayment. I used the 2 in 1 Roberts underlayment and the main 2 in1 one that HD sells. I personally don't think it is the underlayment I used, but I would recommend anyone to research underlayment with the type of floor you have before laying it down. For the price, I cannot complain about some of the softer areas of the floor. I'll let it settle out a season or so before I do anything. The good thing is, I can take it off and use it elsewhere if I ever want to upgrade. However, the look is exceptional and I'll probably just leave it alone. I can't say my 3/4 inch hardwood areas are perfect either. If you are going to do it yourself, look at the Youtube video on what not to do when installing engineering hardwood floor. That was the best thing I saw. April 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good quality for the price Super easy to install. I have already dropped a few things over it and not a single scratch. Different length can be a little tricky but after a while you get to know how to arrange all the pieces. A little more expensive than laminate but it increases the value of your home. I've put down a lot of flooring and this is the best looking by far. Perfect for darker rooms . Easy to clean. And pre sealed so never have to strip and re-seal. March 17, 2016
