In Home Depots description it does NOT mention whether or not the Oil is Automatic - I assume yes, but we all know about assumptions.

I'm a 62 year old woman who is used to using lighter weight blowers, battery powered trimmers, and so on, but I have always been really a chicken to be around an electric chainsaw. Since I am very active caring for my extensive landscaping of bushes, trees, and plants, I don't hire out help except on rare occasions and then it is difficult to get someone. With so many small jobs popping up, I would kill myself with a handsaw, paying the price for days with my neck and upper shoulders. This way if I have a quick job I do it myself and it is done and I can move on. This paid for itself with just one job that I would need to hire out. I just love it and wish I had gotten one sooner. The safety features put me at ease, it is lightweight, and caring for it is so easy...just keep it clean and oil in it. It has worked for any job I have given it that included up to 4 inch diameter branches, it just takes time, but a nice clean cut.

It was the best $50 I have spend in a long time. I had a 40-50 foot tree fall, roots and all. It was laying on the ground and I was able to cut it up into manageable pieces and cut up to 10 inches in diameter with no problems. I used a 100 foot 16 awg extension cord and had no problems with over heating or lack of performance. I cut from 3-31/2 hours but not constantly. I would make 5 or 6 cuts and haul what I cut out and return to cut again, no problems. Chainsaw was light and I experienced no kickback. I cut down to the last 5 feet or so of the tree which I am leaving for the stump grinding people.

We had an older electric saw die after thirty years. When our tree in the yard needed cutting down this was a great tool. The daily rental rate for a gas saw was about the same as the purchase price of this one and it made sense. I did however have to get the heavier duty blade but then again I cut down a tree with over a "36 diameter. Unless you plan on felling trees all day, this is a great purchase that will get the job done and not break the bank! After three months of use, I would recommend this to any yard warrior.

I had part of a tree fall in my backyard and bought this chainsaw. It's lightweight and very easy to use. The chain did fall off a few times but it was because I was being too aggressive with a thick part of the tree. I watched a youtube video to learn how to put it back on....I'm very challenged with directions :). The largest part of the tree that I had to saw was 10" - 12" in diameter and even with doing that I had to work the saw a bit and move it around the trunk, but it really did a great job.

I'm one of those people with a healthy aversion to serious power tools due to the potential for injury. This chainsaw was easy to handle, powerful enough to dissect the offending fallen tree but not overpowered and hard to control. That said, you most definitely need to exercise extreme caution with this tool and wear appropriate full coverage eye protection beyond just plain eyeglasses. I was covered with small wood chips and sawdust by the time I finished the job.. I bought a bottle of the recommended bar and chain oil with it as it is a requirement for using the saw. You should buy a good pair of vented, full coverage eye protection too. Directions on tightening the chain were easy to follow, just twist a knob on the side of the saw in between cuts as the chain warms up.

I've had this chain saw a number of years now and have nothing but praise for it. While some may think it only for light duty cutting it can do far more. I purchased it when Hurricane Sandy uprooted a very tall evergreen on my property and my gas chainsaw was inoperable. Considering what a contractor would have charged to remove the tree I would have been happy if the Homelite only lasted for this one job. Instead it came through with flying colors and since than I've cut down four more large trees with the tallest being over 50' with this little saw. I use it to cut the entire tree except for the base which I switch to my 16" electric due to the diameters. For my initial investment of $50 and half a dozen chains I've saved thousands.

I purchased this chainsaw to extend my apiary and have nothing but praise for it. After about a month of use I have had no issues, one time the chain came off while I was cutting a stump to the ground, and jammed it up, that was my fault not the fault of the product. For $50 you can't beat it, and seems to be well made and thus far has handled every job I have asked it to do very well. I have read reviews that state this chainsaw eats oil like it's nothing, that has not been my experience, in fact, I have yet to add any more oil since I purchased it, and yes I have kept check on it. Bottom line is this, I am happy with it and that's all that really matters.

If gasoline engines were as torquey as electric motors then carpenters' power tools would run on gasoline. This is all the average suburban homeowner needs for the occasional fallen tree limb. I just chopped up a pecan limb that was 11" across, and it performed like a charm. Only hitch was in my technique which got the saw stuck a few times till I was able to get a floor jack under it to provide a fulcrum. A real man would buy an $800 Husqvarna, but the smart one buys this one, which he can lend it to his man neighbor when his gas saw doesn't start :-)
