Yes, just follow the wiring instructions. There are wires for a heat pump that would normally just go unconnected.

Do the instructions show how to hard wire the device? I hate using batteries and would like to just have them as a power backup.

Answer:
Hi Folks, these thermostats get power from the HVAC system, do not require any other power source.
The batteries are for the program that is stored in internal memory, when you have a power outage you program stays alive, when power is restored the HVAC runs as it should.

Answer:
The only options for holding a selected temperature are "temporary hold" and "permanent hold." Temporary hold keeps the selected temperature until the next programmed schedule time, and permanent hold will keep the selected temperature until you select otherwise.

Answer:
Hi, As it turns out this thermostat will not hold a specific temperature until a selected date and time. It does have a permanent hold feature that allows it to stay set at one temperature until you manually change it. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you!

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 130 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly surprised Easy and simple to install. Replaced original thermostat that came with the house we purchased which had started to malfunction. Not being handy I was surprised as to how easy it was to install and use. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install and to program This thermostat is really easy to install and program. The one thing I would change is a way to shut off the feature that tries to match the next temp change. It negates the cost savings. I have the house cooler at night and warmer during the day in the summertime. I want the temp change at 6 a.m. and 8 pm. The smart feature wants to match the daytime temp by 6 am. No, I want it cool for sleeping until 6 am. I had to program the 6 am temp that I wanted for 7 am. The first setting of the day was 6 am. That was the nighttime cool temp repeated. The 7 am temp was set for the warmer daytime temp. Had to adjust the evening temp using the same logic. In the winter this should not be a problem as I want the house warm when I get up. Everything else is exactly the way that I want a thermostat to work. It is very accurate and reliable August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well The thermostat lights up nice and is relatively easy to use. The L E D display is easy to read. With just a little response delay August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good and cost effective progammable thermostat This thermostat has been working fine. Really like the auto feature, which is why I bought it. Considered a wifi Honeywell, but my house is over 30 years old and not properly wired for it. That would have been a nice touch, but cost of that thermostat + wiring work from HVAC guy wasn't worth it, although Honeywell does provide DIY instructions for that situation. I was game but a humidifier complicated matters. Long and short, this one is not as hi tech but does the job I wanted re: automatic temp control July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great quality Easy to install, can be programmed for the 7 days of the week, beautiful design and the price is very reasonable for quality of this product. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Technology gone mad! 80% of the functions in this touchscreen thermostat are ones that you might use 2% of the time. Honeywell has unnecessarily turned a simple thermostat into a smart phone wannabe just to show they can do technology. The touchscreen is very sensitive and has a lag so if you touch a button and touch something else there is a good chance that some setting will change. This happened to us 3 times: for some reason the internal settings would change so thermostat would think it was dealing with a Gas Heat Pump (instead of an electric Heat Pump)!!! The RTH7600 turned our Heat Pump inoperative. I sent a note to Honeywell Home Team on July 20th asking for their thoughts- and included a photo too. They responded on Aug 12!!!! 20 days later!!! And their response was: "Thank you for reaching out! Was your air conditioning running at the time that you took the picture? If your AC is running, then the thermostat is properly doing its job by calling for cooling. Please confirm if your AC is running or not. If your AC is running, but your house is not getting cooler, we recommend having an HVAC contractor take a look at your system. Do you have a contractor that you normally work with? If not, we would be happy to locate one in your area with a zip code." If I had waited 20 days for this response everybody would have perished in the 90 deg weather!!!! I just replaced this technology filled useless device with a simpler thermostat and things are back to normal. Conclusion: if you want to not bother with constantly changing internal settings stay way from this unit and don't bother the Honeywell Home Team. August 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple usage So easy to install. I'm a 62 year homemaker and did it in 20 mins. Accurate July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced multiple thermostats, customer service did not help I purchased this thermostat as an upgrade to my old mercury t-stat. Worked fine for a week or two, then the screen started acting strange - showing characters that did not fit, wrong temperature, etc. Took it back to home depot and they replaced it with no questions asked. The new one worked fine for a few days and then the thermostat turned off completely like there was no power. Home Depot replaced it again. The third thermostat stopped accepting touch input on the right side of the screen. Home Depot replaced it yet again. The fourth thermostat stopped reading the room temperature and simply shows "- -". After this, I decided to put my old thermostat back in and call Honeywell. After calling Honeywell, I waited on hold for 20 minutes before actually speaking to someone. When I did speak to someone, after they asked what my problem was, they cut me off and insisted that there was a problem with the system. They told me to check the voltage on the wires. I told him that I had already checked this, and that the voltage was exactly 24-25 volts. The agent told me that "exactly 24 volts seems strange" and told me to check it again and call back. I would have liked for customer service to offer me a different product or a different solution to my problem other than one that I have already checked. July 27, 2016
