CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 94 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Money saver I bought this programmable thermostat for my office/shop. We don't need the heat or a/c running all night, just when we are in the office. Great features, easy to install, and easy to use. It has different settings for weekdays and weekends. It kicks on a little while before we arrive in the morning and back off as we are leaving in the evening. Plus, it saves us money. It paid for itself the first month. January 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by On/Off Cycling Not Energy Efficient I've owned this model for three years and have called Honeywell on at least two occasions for the same problem. From the very beginning, I noticed the unit would cycle the furnace on/off repeatedly at the set temperature. From my programming background, I know this to be an issue with what is called "hysterisis". This happens because the electronics have some variation in their readings. For instance, if the thermostat is set to 70 degrees, the furnace should go on once the temperature goes below 70 and turn off when it goes above 70. But the temperature sensor could signal 69.9 degrees one second and 70.1 the next second. This Honeywell unit will turn on the furnace in this case, start up the gas burners and then turn them off once the blower starts to send the heat through the ducts. This is not energy efficient and if the gas/electric companies were smart, they would disallow rebates on this model. The program should have hysterisis programmed so the furnace turns on at 69.5 for instance and doesn't turn off again until 71, for example (would be nice if this was user programmable). When I first called, I was told this was a "feature" and the display accuracy (which in my example never changes from 70 degrees) was different than the actual temperature so the unit was functioning properly. I called again earlier this year to ask if they had a software update and I was told no but "I could just go to Home Depot and buy another Honeywell thermostat". Not going to happen. If you don't believe or understand the issue with this thermostat, just Google the model and "cycling". December 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Keepin' us warm Thermostat! This thermostat was very easy to install and program. You don't even need the directions to reprogram. It is very straight forward and intuitive. Will recommend this to everyone! December 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super Programmable Thermostat This multi- level thermostat was very easy to install and works great. Now we are saving money by the auto settings that cool us at night and warm us in winter. Have recommended to a couple of friends that still have the standard types. February 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent thermostat. I'm a Master HVAC Contractor. In my years Honeywell has always produced a quality product. The average trouble with the thermostat is one where it is installed and two how it is installed. Remember these thermostats monitor the wall as well as the air temperature. If you have installed it on an outside wall it's going to think it's outside. Honestly, I have never found the product itself to be at fault on any service call. But, I have seen thermostats installed in interesting places. August 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great money saver! The instructions were easy to follow. It took very little time to changeover from the old mercury style to the new programmable thermostat. It has really made a difference on our heating bills. December 30, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Uncertain about this purchase I am uncertain about this purchase. It was easily installed and the pre-programmed settings are convenient. I like that the programming eliminates the problem of forgetting to turn down the thermostat when I leave for work. However, this thermostat maintains the room at the set temperature constantly, which means it kicks the heater on for short bursts very frequently. I am accustomed to the temperature falling about 2 degrees, the heater kicking on to warm the house about 4 degrees and then a long stretch before the temperature falls to below our set temperature again. It remains to be seen if that is good for our heating bill or not. January 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job Simple DIY project that can save money. This is a no brainer and I would highly recommend. The programming of this unit was the easiest of all the brands/models I have used previously and it looks nice when completed. October 29, 2014
